My experience with lightning

When I was about 13 years old my friends and I were skateboarding at these warehouses we always went to. The sky got really dark and we could tell it was about to rain, so we booked it for my house. We were all running and skateboarding down the prairie path and the rain started hitting us. We were coming up on the bridge that lets pedestrians on the path cross over the main road. I dropped my board and it knocked my friends board out of his hands. We were now both lagging behind the others.

Here's where things get weird. We were running and were close to the middle of the bridge when I saw lightning strike the metal railing on the side of the bridge. As soon as it hit the bridge I felt a warm buzzing sensation pulse through my body. Immediately all sound ceased, I couldn't hear any noise. And time, or at least my perception of it, slowed down. I could see the cars below the bridge slow to a snails pace. The raindrops falling looked as though they were barely moving. My friend to the side and the friends ahead of us seemed to be almost motionless. And then everything went back to normal. For a few seconds (in real-time probably a millisecond or less) I got to see the world in slow-motion. It was an extraordinary experience. My friend next to me described the exact same experience, feeling a warm pulsation and seeing everything in slow-motion. We were both awe-struck by what happened.

Has anyone experienced something like this involving lightning, or electricity in general? Ever since that experience with lightning, I've wondered if time is electromagnetic in composition and can be altered by electricity, warping it. Or if the lightning simply altered some part of my brain that perceives time. What are your thoughts?

I was camping on the beach once with three friends. A hellacious electrical storm came upon us and we all ran inside of the tent. I have no idea how long we were unconscious, but at some point everyone woke up at the same time with no memory of what had happened. The tent was collapsed and we were laying in several inches of water. Very weird.

I've experienced something similar as a kid, although it had to do with being in close proximity to an active electromagnetic vortex near my home... a random spur of the moment event that held no relation to lightning.

I am always curious as to how electromagnetism distorts the fabric of space and time. I am open to the possibility that you and your friend were caught in an electromagnetic vortex caused by the lightning strike.

I think it's a reaction to the perception of extreme danger rather than lightning - it relates to the idea of your life flashing before your eyes when you think you're about to die.

I had a similar experience as a child when I fell out of a tree. I'd been hanging upside down from a branch about 15ft in the air and lost my grip: everything went into slow motion and I remember a flood of vivid memories and images going through my mind. Somehow, I landed on my feet, completely unhurt.

I've been near lightning strikes many times. Hair goes up, arms feel tingly, you get to know the feeling. I never noticed what you said, but then again, I really was not paying attention. It does seem like the lightning hitting the tree or fence does last a long time. Maybe because of being on the bridge in the middle of a field, it raised the speed of your perception so everything seemed to be moving slow. Energy running through the mind could possibly speed up your mind. I know someone who took a deflected hit from a tree, it made his neck chain with a cross burn his skin. Left a cross shaped scar on his upper chest. It jumped from him to his dog, his dog never came near him again.

That's one of the strangest things I've ever heard.
Ever tried recovered memory therapy? I'd look into it.
Maybe there's more to that event than meets the eye, maybe not, but it's interesting

I've had a few adrenaline rushes, I also fell out of a tree once like you hahha
This experience felt nothing like an adrenaline rush. It definitely stands out.
Adrenaline heightens perception to a certain pont, but the few rushes I've gotten havent slowed down time as much as that lightning strike did.

time is only perception, perception is just electrical signals of the brain,

add in a large does of electricity from a lightning strike, and who knows whats possible

It most likely has to do with the brain. The brain is electric in itself so it is not hard to imagine that outside electricity can affect it in various ways. Perhaps it caused your body to release some chemical, like adrenaline. Or perhaps, as you stated, it just affected the way in which the brain perceives time. Since this is likely controlled by electrical impulses in some way, it is easy to imagine.

Wow that is a fascinating experience you have had. Thanks for sharing, I love hearing stories like this.

Maybe we are capable of some really awesome things when we are in extreme danger, and you for some reason were able to slow down time and remove yourself physically and temporarily from the situation to avoid the lightning shock. Like maybe you shifted into another dimension for a very short time to avoid it but could watch it happening and then once your mind/body knew it was safe to return you eased back into your own dimension ?

This kind of stuff is so interesting to me.

The slow down thing I've had happen once before too, but not in a lightning strike. It was a car accident, I was driving and we had a fully loaded station wagon with a bunch of young adults/teens. I rounded a curvy road too fast and into the ditch embankment we went. As soon as we hit the ditch we were hitting trees and moving along fast, I knew we were in trouble and I was scared. The adrenaline rush and slowed down thingy happened and everything was moving in slow motion by me. I also remember praying at that same moment that we would all be ok and make it out unscathed and alive. Which we did. I don't recall doing anything spectacular during the slow motion time... I just held onto the steering wheel really tight and tried to steer the car from hitting anything while praying.

Who knows... maybe there is something to this slow motion thingy... after all we wouldn't be here to talk about it if it didn't help us out in some way. Is it time slowing down so we can think clearly enough to get out of and or survive the situation ? Or is it something much more spectacular that we are doing to prevent the catastrophic situation, something supernatural that we have not even touched on researching into to know what is happening ?

my dad worked installing drywall/sheet rock for a living and after the divorce we or just I, the oldest kid, would have to go with him to work and we would wander around the jobsite and I thought it was so cool to see buildings in the process of being built. I remember one time I was looking at a rectangular hole in the wall where I assume there was going to eventually be a light switch but at the time was just a hole with wires sticking out. being a dumb curious kid, I touched the wires, or maybe just one I don't remember. I had no way to know if time slowed down because there was nothing in motion around me but now that I think of it, it did kind of seem that way but I just remember a weird sensation like my body felt like it was floating and it felt like my finger was stuck to the wire and a strange tingly or dizzy feeling in the brain.

when it was over I was able to finally pull my hand back. I just said "woah" and went on about my business looking for other stuff to mess with. I didn't tell my dad because I knew he would be mad but I didn't touch any wires after that. I was about 9 or 10 maybe. I've been shocked since then for example by accident when replacing a 2 to 3 foot long black light bulb of the tube shaped kind and forgot to unplug it from the wall and accidentally touched the metal connecter part and it didn't feel anything like the previous experience. it just hurt like a bitch.

When people have encounters with Lightening I tend to feel that they have been touched in a way by a greater power. I've worked with people who took on certain abilities from such an encounter and I carry this medicine as well although I've not been hit by lightening. I have had numerous dreams and experiences around the thunder beings.

Thunderbird and Trickster

In regards to the slowing down of time and motion, I've experienced this as well in the astral. It was very intense and I actually relived the tragic experiences of the beings who died. I had not felt anything like that before in this incarnation.
