Two Botulism Cases May Be Linked To Botox
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Health officials are investigating whether a Florida man and woman got botulism from Botox injections.

A spokesman for the Palm Beach County Health Department said both patients got Botox at the same clinic in Broward County. They've since been hospitalized.

Botox is a derivative of the toxin that causes botulism. It's used as an anti-wrinkle drug.

A spokeswoman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta said the agency is trying to learn whether a Florida man and woman got botulism from Botox injections.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the clinic and won't say when the patients received the injections of Botox. Botox is a derivative of the toxin that causes botulism that also has been used as an anti-wrinkle drug.

I never quite understood or came to grasps as to why people would inject themselves with a deadly agent just to have fatter lips or less wrinkles. While I feel sorry for these people on one hand, I kinda feel that they are responsible for their own actions by choosing to get the shots in the first place.

While I realize they have not conclusively determined that the older couple's botulism was caused by the Botox injections - this new information has convinced me it was Bad Botox :

A neurologist said the couple told him a doctor at their Botox clinic and his girlfriend got sick from the same treatment last week. That couple is hospitalized in New Jersey.

What are the odds of four people, all of who went to the same clinic, all coming down with Botulism and it being unrelated to their treatment?

The clinic got raided in the wee a.m hours today. It's actually not that far from me, about a 15 minute ride.

Also it seems the Doctor who did the deed, has some issues with his medical license and isn't supposed to be writing prescriptions or something like that.

still, I just don't get this Botox craze. It's not like it lasts forever, they have keep getting shots every 3 months.

because of this, I wonder if perhaps repetitive shots has an affect on the body and perhaps multiple doses can lead to live botulism developing within the human body???
