Thank you OP.
For all the ungrateful children out there who forgot it was Mother's Day (
) ask your Mom if she forgot how long she was in labor, how long she
felt it took to hear your very first cry indicating you had made it safely into the world, how many times she counted your fingers/toes after you
arrived, how many nights she had to get up change your diapers/feed you/chase the monster from under your bed and clean up your puke when she had to
go in to work in a matter of hours, how many years it was before she could eat her meal while it was hot again, how many times she put off paying a
bill so you could have the newest most popular shoes, how many nights she laid in bed picturing your limp/lifeless body in a ditch when you decided
you were too old for curfew, how many nights she laid awake wondering what she could sell/do to pay for your braces, your prom dress/tux, your first
car, your contacts because glasses weren't "cool".
Only then to lay awake and wonder if you got home to your dorm room/first apartment alive when the roads were icy, wonder if you had enough money to
get by, food to eat, etc. etc. etc.
It doesn't end.
She remembers.
Just saying.
ETA - For those of you missing your Mother today, I wish you strength to get through this day, just as she would have wanted.... remembering the good
times and smiling in celebration of her memory and the legacy she left behind.
