there are 2 links for chemicals in the Rio grande Juarez area.

I really feel its a chemical exposure of some kind hope its not from the ground water. Alot harder to fix than air pollution controls. O3 would be the easier to fix.

Out of curiosity, I did an online search for mortality maps relating to Kidney and Liver failure. One of the symptoms of prolonged or excessive exposure to Xylene, one of the chemicals used in the oil business, is Kidney and/or Liver failure. So, my thought was that maybe I could find evidence of this and could therefore tie Xylene into the equation. However, the few maps that I was able to find did not show any incidences or Kidney of Liver problems in the Vernal area. They showed incidences in other parts of Utah, but not in the Vernal area.

As a result, I think we can probably rule out Xylene seeping into the water supply or being inhaled as a cause of the increased number of infant deaths.

I am amazed nobody seems interested in this post......the facts indicate that theres a big problem brewing in Unitah county....thanks for the update.....looks like another cover up is in the offing there.....

frankly at this stage I don't care....the people of each region where this is happening, needs to quit acquiescing to "big oil mouth vomit" and demand they stop fracking. how about all of you "freedom lovers" who came to the aid of that bundy rancher dude, do the same thing with the crews that drive in to set up the fracking equipment....you know, to protect actual innocent people.

The area around vernal is pretty wide open. I wish there was better data on where the mothers lived worked their racial background. If its random and countywide I would go with airborne or if in city limits city water supply.

Reading the article again 2010 was the start of the rise. Makes me think a change in the last 5 years would simplify the search.

I agree... I wish we had better data to try to pinpoint the logistics surrounding these cases. IMHO, location and date of deaths would help tremendously. I thought I had read something that said that several of the families lived in the same neighborhood or something like that, but cannot recall where I had seen that.

Just came across something else that might be relevant: Explosion at Adler Hot Oil Service posted March 2nd, 2013

What chemicals were in these buildings during the time of the explosion? Could it be that the exhaust from such a chemical fire as being a potential contributor to the spike of neonatal deaths? The sharp increase of neonatal deaths took place during 2013.

I'm struggling to understand your point or contribution to this thread. Are you an angry person? Or are you suggesting that we have a physical intervention of some type? Just to clarify, we're trying to pinpoint causes here. I have a feeling that once we've identified the cause, then the solution will be easier to pursue.

I'm not fond of fracking either, but I'm not for certain that is the cause here. These are babies that had gone full term and then died, as I understand it. I'm assuming that they were fine until that point.

Heather Murdock did a real insightful piece on this story. I didn't see the link referenced in this thread, so here it is. The video is about 30 minutes long. Its worth watching. This will likely answer a lot of your questions Bloomoon. This is a whistle blowing oil and gas CEO admitting as to what the problem is.
