I agree and annoys the livein ******* out of me is that I have seen this coming from Amerkia but Australians are too blind to see. What makes this all the worse is that it's only wage and salary earners who have to pay all this extra tax they are talking about. Given 80% of our mining industry is foreign owned only adds insult to injury.

When I entered the workforce in 1969 the corporate rate of tax in Australia was 60% now it is 30% and they still demand it be lowered

WHY IS THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY ALSO NOT REQUIRED TO PAY TAX FOR:

flood victims tax
the disability support tax
the bank support levy the Rudd government brought in.

Hot on the heels of these changes will be a rise in the GST and it will spread to food, health and education.

TAXING SHARE TRADES WILL MAKE GST ON FOOD UNNECESSARY

The nations tax burden is being moved from the corporate world to individuals while the welfare system is being moved away from individuals into corporate pockets. We the people will now become tax doners of corporate welfare while we have the welfare system taken away from us.

Meanwhile our media and politicians say absolutely nothing

While i definitely agree that a lot of the upcoming changes are horrific, i can't help but think that we wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't for the Labor government. Their needless spending got us into this mess, and i think the Abbott government is in the right for trying to get us out of it before we end up like the USA or any other state with significant debt.

The media is going on about how we don't have much debt and it isn't much of a problem, but come 10 years or so, i think we will be in deep #. Better to suffer through a short period to combat the debt, rather than leave it and suffer much more than what we currently are.

I agree that labour caused a mess but as well as reduce spending there is increase revenues via putting policies in place that promote investment, employment and in turn tax revenues it is this second aspect they are ignoring. There are plenty of cuts to be had without going for the jugular of pensioners or the unemployed, what has made our society great is the safety net for the genuinely needy or out of luck Id rather pay 15 percent GST then countenance all this sneaky nasty stuff.

I agree!

I believe that the government could have found better ways to implement the overall scheme. The youth/unemployed and the pensioners are the two most vulnerable groups of our society, so i think forcing them to suffer most is not a very wise decision.

At least Abbott is gunning for the rich as well...i have to give him props for that, hahaha.

It may be best to see the Senate block it, thereby forcing the government to take a long hard look at the scheme and revise it to better suit the public.

Sometimes I wonder why I even came back to Australia. I grew up in the west of Sydney. Hated it then, now I hate it even more. In the amount of time I was gone a few things changed but the one thing that didn't was the power hungry and rich. I don't trust palmer, labour, liberals or even the greens. They only care for themselves not for the people who put them there.

Best of luck hopefully this change doesn't affect you too bad. I know I won't be able to retire.

JSF has a fundamental flaw. To fit the LiftFan in the carrier variant, the fuselage could not be given enough of a coke bottle shape, which is a requirement to fly supersonic. This flaw carries over to the other two variants. It accelerates from Mach 0.8 to Mach 1.2 at some 43 seconds slower than an F16. JSF is called 5th generation because it has stealth. Take away the stealth, and it is a dog (apologies to Fido). It is only stealthy from the front, and only over the X band frequency range. Aviation Week has pointed out the latest Saab Gripen will have advanced infrared sensors (purchased from Scotland) that will readily detect the JSF. JSF has half the range of the old F14, or about the same as an F18. The carrier variant is so overweight that its range has been reduced. JSF is not maneuverable compared to Russian fighters, or others such as the F16, Rafale, or Typhoon. JSF cannot accelerate as a fighter is expected to. JSF does not have a high top speed. JSF cannot supercruise. The true cost of JSF is over $200 million US a copy. It is also very expensive to maintain.

When you see the blueprint of the Elite, which has things like "the removal of all forms of inheritance", then working for an extra 5 years will be the least of your problems.

We didn't elect any of these clowns, but we are all affected by the circus they create !

You all seem to be discounting the fact that it was Labor under Rudd and Gillard who were haemorrhaging money left right and centre. Who overspent on dud schemes most of which were strong armed through parliament by the Greens.

The Libs are just cleaning up the mess.

That awkward moment when the ABC whines about bias in the Murdoch press..... What's good for the goose is good for the gander and both left and right biased media needs to be knocked back a few pegs.

The F35 is a lemon we should of bought F22's or the Eurofighter.

I am in Queensland and yes Campbell Newman is a definate example of a politician rising beyond their level of competenence at least Joh as dictator had cranes on the skyline, mining and other industries humming and health and education working this clown with an 80 billion deficit told James Packer he'd have to wait till 2016 to bid for a casino because they are building some other crappy building first so the 4 billion just went to Macau.

Neither state or federal government are promoting an environment to promote business expand the economy and thus tax revenues its just slash and burn razor gangs .

I dont know with electricity and water and other taxes skyrocketing a lot of us may have big enough balls soon, from swelling of them being squeezed with a vice.

We were offered the F22 Raptor by the U.S. as an interim to the F35, but our wise-heads decided not to take the offer. I think they should be charged with treason for letting our skies become indefensible.

I agree with the rest of your reply. And I hope, with all my might, that enough people get it and stand up. I have been waiting for that to happen for well over 30 years. So I will be in the line standing my ground when there are enough to stand with me.

30 years represents my adult life from 18-48 I can remember riding bikes without helmets, smoking in bars, just getting warned by cops if I was DUI and just over, fishing with very few restrictions, playing with firecrackers, everyone had a job if they wanted one,you could own a hot v8 and not be constantly harrassed,on open roads you could sit on 140-160 and no one cared less, bonfires, campfires, taking dogs on camping trips.....no one born after 1980 ever had these freedoms so they dont know whats being taken away if there is a movement it will have to be us 'oldies'

I think what it is that most are discounting is that there is now absolutely no difference between Labor and Liberal apart from the names. There ONCE was a time when Labor was "blue-collar" and Liberal was white-collar/big business. If Labor wasn't the same as Liberal then they wouldn't of been kicked out in the fashion in which they were. Yet after just several months the same people that complained about Labor are now complaining about Liberal.
If you want any more proof that Labor does not care about blue-collar workers, then come and visit Wollongong and see what 40 years of unopposed Labor support has done for the town. Labor know its a safe seat, so they don't need to spend any money. liberal knows its an unwinnable seat, so they don't spend any money. Meanwhile, the majority in Wollongong keep voting for Labor over and over like its following their favourite sporting team.

Due to everyone saying how dissatisfied they were with Labor, Liberal knew that they would win the election by default. Why do you think Abbott made next to no policies during the election...............it's because he knew he was going to win. This has given a free ride to Liberal until the point where the majority say the same thing as they said about Labor. then we go on a witch hunt for Liberal and let it be known we wan them out, which then gives a free ride back to Labor when they replace them.

This is how Australian politics works..........................Liberal raises new tax after new tax as that is how Governments make a surplus. We get so sick of being taxed that we then give the power to Labor because "they are blue-collar". Yet Labor, especially under Gillard, was using the exact blueprint that Liberal used. We then vote out Labor and give Liberal another few years of taxing us, which was one of the very reason for dissatisfaction of Labor under Gillard. Circles anyone ?

BOTH Labor and Liberal are now using the same game plan, and that game plan is to take as much off us as possible, to give as many breaks as possible to big business. Labor is now just as much "big business" as Liberal have always been. But when the only other option is the biggest hypocrites of all....the Greens, then what option do we truly have other than removing these clowns by force and removing all forms of Reserve system in this country. While the Reserve system continues, then the behaviour of politicians will only get worse. And if anyone thinks voting for the other party will change anything, then I ask them, what country have you been living in for the last 30-40 years ? And what has been the difference between the last Labor government and this current Liberal government ?

Exactly.

We are the ones with the higher pain threshold anyway, so it must fall to us to be the first in line.
