A long time ago, my grandparents used to tell me "When poverty knocks on the door, love flies out the window" Or something like that.

The problem is that those who make the rules are immune to them, and they know it. It was a problem that the founding of this nation strived to prevent, but here we are (because oligarchies are much more pervasive than perhaps given credit).

So, the issue is, when we mandate anything its actually the "common man" that gets hit with the rules and regs. Like gun control, these are things that criminals dont care about. It goes a bit further with economic discussions though, where-in they not only do not care for the laws, but they can write them so they dont have to worry in the first place.

So, any legislation that attempts to address the divide between the haves and the have-nots will fail. It is something that has to show as being profitable to even be considered. And then, beyond that, it has to show a ROI that actually makes the effort and investment more desirable than how they currently operate.

I think the issues are far deeper than simply pay. Its our cultural narrative that needs to change. We have plenty of different ways to approach pay, economical investment, societal investment, etc. However, the only method that is every pursued is the one we have in place. Which is, essentially, if you make it big enough you expect to be bought out by the oligarchy.

We shouldnt expect our government to mandate these things, we should get creative in our own businesses using models that may end up being more successful to ourselves and society than the typical oligarchy buy-out. We should get creative in how we handle helping people who have not, instead of throwing paper at the problem. What else would that result in other than dependency?

We can make the government work for us by creating a new system that grows from within, using all of the tools at our disposal. All it takes is actual participation, which is a weak link and a great strength depending on circumstances. As much as many are loathe to admit it, our current government is representative of our society. Its how people operate. If you can get ahead by cutting someone else off at the knees, its not only considered acceptable, its the only option on the table. Competition can either make all of us stronger, or give us the perception of "winning" at any cost. Its obvious which route most take.

If you were to create a business, what type of model might you use to directly affect society, your business, your family, your workers, and the economy? There are other ways than a pyramid scheme, or "trickle down economics!"
