Beginning in 1915, the Young Turks regime initiated a plan to exterminate the Armenians of the Ottoman Empire. Turkish military officers and commanders orchestrated a premeditated cleansing of Christians Armenians from Ottoman territories whom they considered an impediment to their “Turkification” effort.

On April 24, 1915, the most prominent members of the Armenian community were gathered up and executed. So began the devastating period of genocide, defined by death marches, executions, beheadings, rape, hangings, dismemberment, and similarly horrific courses of extermination.

It always amazes me that people and nations can deny such things when we have photographic proof. Even more amazing and disgusting that these horrors are denied for political reasons, so as to not upset "allies."

Back in 2007 there was a House resolution that would officially recognize the "genocide"...

All eight living former secretaries of state have signed a joint letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) warning that the nonbinding resolution "would endanger our national security interests." Three former defense secretaries, in their own letter, said Turkey probably would cut off U.S. access to a critical air base. The government of Turkey is spending more than $300,000 a month on communications specialists and high-powered lobbyists, including former congressman Bob Livingston, to defeat the initiative.

The US is not really in any position to be pointing fingers at anyone when it comes to destroying people. If they start pointing out Turkey the Turks may bring up what we did to the "Native Americans."

Shh.. most people have forgotten about that. Except maybe the Native Americans.

I read in today's papers that Erdogan of Turkey made excuses in name of Turkey for this massacre, oficially.

Being Armenian myself I'm sure my fellow brothers and sisters would agree with me in what I have to say. Us Armenians take great pride in our country and who we are but when this day comes around people seem to think about it for 1 day and move on with their lives (including us Armenians), we must make our voices heard and spread the cries of our ancestors during the entire year if we hope for change. It is definitely the worst thing that has ever happened to our race and country and the sad part is that the Turkish government denies this proven fact and says it "NEVER HAPPENED". There is EVIDENCE and facts that PROVE that it DID happen. The Turkish people were seriously as sickening as humanly possible, they tortured the Armenian people in numerous ways including raping the woman while making the husband/kids/parents, basically the whole family WATCH it. They would kill everyone even children/elders, they would shoot and kill the husbands or kids and sometimes both of the Armenian woman after forcing those same children and husbands watch the Turks rape the woman, and they wouldn't kill the wife just to have her suffer, many more disgusting acts such as BEHEADINGS and etc.. To this day the Turkish people are disgusting people, or I guess I could say pridefully IGNORANT because there is evidence of genocide but their government denies it so they blindly follow and agree and say it never did happen. I'm just wondering how one country could fake a genocide anyway, you can't just make something like a GENOCIDE up lol. I'm sorry but we will probably never get the recognition of this happening by the U.S because of how the U.S operates on their soil for military purposes. We are asking for recognition of genocide and our ancestors, we want the respect we deserve for what our ancestors had to go through. I must say I am "white-washed" having been born in the U.S. but I have great pride for my race and the one thing I love about my race is that we always look out for every one even if we don't know each other, we are the type of people that will help a stranger for no reason. Armenian people are truly beautiful inside and out and really have genuinely great hearts, and if you show an Armenian kindness and a little respect they will open up their hearts for you. Most of us try to be as open-minded as possible and are truly good people that will have your back and be with you through the good and the bad. It is a fact people I encourage everyone to just google it and see all the gruesome things the Turks did to our people.
