Not sure if this is the right forum. Mod's please move to the right one if need be.

30 years. They spent the vast majority of their lives in a lab, and after 30 years, they are released in a sanctuary. Their reactions say it all – this an exuberant, heart warming reaction, their joy and bewilderement can’t be captured in words. Watch the hug they have at 1:25… that just says it all!

Bless their hearts.

That was happy and sad all in the same moment. You could see their bewilderment and their joy. They hugged one another. Amazing.

This is so remarkable...it actually made me tear up. I volunteer at an animal sanctuary called the Wildlife Waystation and I see this type event not so often, it's kind of rare. It's so very unfortunate however, that Chimps are used in such a manner.

They looked very confused yet, the elder looks out and gives his approval.

I hope they will live their lives out peacefully

Then the elder enters the window to go get the others to let them know, it's okay. Dam that made my heart melt.

Thank You

My thoughts exactly.

I spent a number of years working in biomedical research, and ended up walking away from it because of the surgical experiments being conducted on animals. In so many cases the use of animal models is quite heartbreaking. There's a strange lack of empathy among physicians and scientists in this field. A lack of compassion for animals, can generally translate to a lack of compassion for one's fellow man. With that in mind, remember to be very careful with your choice of physicians.

Tugged my heart but also angered my soul for the abject and total disregard of conscience that our 'kind' have brought to this world. We are the 'for profit' species, and it makes me want to vomit. It shores up my hopes to watch the total annihilation of mankind, within in my lifetime. (But check back tomorrow and there's a 50% chance I'll waffle back to wanting to save mankind.....ah the dichotomy of it all)

Its well worth studying Chimp / Bonobo and Orangutan behavior & psychology if you want to better understand human behavior and society in general. Watch enough videos on Youtube and you’ll get an insight into the root causes of many seemingly irrational human traits displayed in the population.

We like to think we are far removed from our furry cousins with our sophisticated technologies and complicated civilizations but you don’t have to scratch very far beneath the surface to find the similarities on a emotional and social level.

This is just great for the chimps. Amazing to watch them see the outside world for the first time. Very sad and heartwarming at the same time. Around 1:37 when three of the chimps are sticking close to each other scared to go out is the part that got me.

Thank you for sharing S&F.

While I am glad they are no longer in metal cages, am I the only one not satisfied with that they were released into? No real trees to climb, and the area is still fairly small. Am I the only one who thinks they deserve more than that?

Well, I guess if you believe in evolution! There's no reason what so ever to conduct experiments in the name of science on what I suppose you consider your "furry cousin". The chimp is not my cousin IMHO, and even if it were, I would not condone experimentation upon him.

YouTube...seriously? Are you from that loyal generation...that "if it's on YouTube, then it must be true"? Get a clue friend....and get one soon because you're seriously out of touch!

Look, if humans need to know what does and doesn't work on humans maybe they should use people like you. Why don't you go sign up for the next round of experimentation...that's the ticket! We'll truly learn everything if it's a real human getting poked, probed, infused with disease and viruses, bacteria and fungi. I'm sure you'll enjoy it! After all, it's in the name of "behavior and society in general". Go for it, you'll love it! After you sign up and "donate" 30 years of your time, I'll see you at the sanctuary

I'll take real good care of ya'

Until then, knock it off with the rhetoric, it's ridiculous.

I can only feel a deep cynical sadness watching this. Im glad they can run and play NOW, of course.....See the MOTHERFRICKING SUN FOR THE FIRST GD TIME.....nice cool breeze.....usual smell of # and death and fear mostly gone......

But I can't help it, I keep picturing Hilary Clinton bringing an old broken down bastard who was unjustly imprisoned his entire life, losing his wife and children in the process, enduring years of off the books, painful, medical and DARPA expirements, to a kids playground, pushing him roughly toward the swings saying "GO PLAY, BEEEEE FREEEEEEE!!!!!" With tears of joy......right after advising him that he won't receive wrongful imprisonment money because it was actually garnished to pay his back child support for the past 30 years as well as a new set of torture weapons for our Al-Queda friends to use on innocent Christians, kneeling children, sleeping babies and every other form of flora or fauna that doesn't pronounce the word Allah properly.

These chimps are hero's. Their 30 yrs. service has delivered tremendous savings to the bloodsuckers that can now use even cheaper, even more caustic chemicals in everything you use because the chimps survived it. AND DID YOU SEE THEM HUG WHEN THEY SMELLED OUTSIDE AIR FOR THE FIRST TIME?????? DID YOU??? HOW GD PRECIOUS!!!!!! IT WAS ALL WORTH IT TO THEM, ALL 30 AGONIZING, TORTUROUS YEARS, SEE, THEY HUGGED!!!! This is really what its all about. Bringing happiness to those we tried to kill but only maimed instead. It makes them so CUTE!!!! Hobbling around looking so happy to BE OUTSIDE!!!

This is all, of course, followed swiftly by a healthy mark-up in price of everything because now we can put a "NEW FORMULA!!!!!!" sticker on the bottle. Made for less, sold for double profits, hot DAMN those chimps were worth every once-a-week, semi-feeding we ever had to pay (tax deductible) for, PLUS the child-whores we bought them with!!!!

This world should kill itself.

Sorry. This vexes me. I could go on and on......
It's my first post but I promise I'm not crazy. This just.....profoundly pissed me off.
Nor am I an animal worshiping, effeminent tree hugger either, not that I give a crap if others are. Just a fan and selfless promotor of decency where I find it lacking.

No, I was surprised by what they termed a "sanctuary". Maybe this is just the first step in re-acclimating them to the outside world.

You are not alone there.

They probably feel like they are in paradise but they deserve so much more. I can only hope this is just the beginning of a new life & more freedom for these guys.

I'm happy, sad and angry all at the same time.
