30 years. They spent the vast majority of their lives in a lab, and after 30 years, they are released in a sanctuary. Its well worth studying Chimp / Bonobo and Orangutan behavior & psychology if you want to better understand human behavior and society in general. Watch enough videos on Youtube and you’ll get an insight into the root causes of many seemingly irrational human traits displayed in the population.
We like to think we are far removed from our furry cousins with our sophisticated technologies and complicated civilizations but you don’t have to scratch very far beneath the surface to find the similarities on a emotional and social level.
No, I was surprised by what they termed a "sanctuary". Maybe this is just the first step in re-acclimating them to the outside world.
