Macro photography captures the magical world of snails.

Thank you for the photos! I can't wait to share them with my Partner! We both love Animals and Insects of almost any kind, and we will go out of our way to always make sure they are safe and cared for. We get lots of Snails and Slugs, especially when it is damp out, and we always make sure that they are out of harm's way, away from sidewalks, etc. If it is dry out, we even leave little caps of water out for them, and will drizzle water near them so that they will get their needed moisture.

Snails LOVE Dog and Cat food! Whenever we see a snail, we take a piece of kibble, moisten it, and put it next to them. They go crazy, and start chomping away! We sometimes even take a magnifying glass so we can watch them eat and interact with each other. They are amazing seeing them so close, and they don't seem to mind us watching them at all. One warning about the magnifying glass, only do it at night when the Sun is gone, otherwise you may end up with a broiled escargot-lol

"Thank you for such wonderful photos", have you ever heard about 'Tardigrades', otherwise called small water bears ?? They can be found among garden moss, can survive examination under electron micrscopes etc. I read once how one had been found within the Arctic ice and taken back to the lab, it started to move. There's so much in this world we have not yet discovered.

Whenever I see a snail on the sidewalk, I move them out of the way so they don't get squished. Don't know what it is about snails but I think they're just too darn cute.

The little fellow must be smelling the water along with raspberry scent from the plants. Imagine how tasty that must smell - a nice cool drink of raspberry juice just after a summer rainstorm. Yummy

They're so cute

Imagine how the different the world must seem from the perspective of a snail. To us a raspberry is so tiny, we can fit a few in the palm of our hands. To this snail, the raspberry must seem huge, it's almost as big as it's shell.

After reading this thread, I checked out a few other images of macrophotography, it's pretty awesome to be able to see all the details me miss when looking at something.

Like this for example, the water looks fuzzy.

I concur. What an expression of the universe. It's so wonderful to live in a world where even the tiniest of creatures can be appreciated and their beauty be recognized at least by someone. What photographs!

Also, nice name, 青岛. I fear I had a few too many last weekend. It resulted in me climbing 65 stories of an unfinished building. But that's not for this thread...

Honestly the most amazing photographs of snails I have ever seen. It really puts snails in a whole new light.

Why is it that I love snails but find slugs horrible?

Have found four dragonfly larvae skins in my ponds the last few days - really want to photo one in the process of metamorphosis, emerging from the larva form but will have to be up early for that.

Yes I have! Hardy lil buggers they are. Can survive extreme temperatures and environments that most other life can't.

I love macro photography. I'v always been a keen observer with fine details, so this style is always interesting and exciting to look at.

I really like the photos of reptile and frogs eyes. They are so alien looking sometimes.
And the moth!! I love moths too.. so cute and fuzzy!
