Rumor so far but I know many will hate it if true.

Long time stand out in pure rock, sad if true.

It’s been a long way to the top for AC/DC, but the Australian rock group has apparently done enough climbing. On Monday, an anonymous email was sent to a radio station in Perth, Australia, claiming the classic rock icons are set to retire. The writer, who signed off as “Thunderstruck,” said one of the band members has fallen ill, and that as a result AC/DC is planning to throw in the towel.

Rumor is MalcomYoung had a stroke and can't play the same anymore. Hope it's false.

Peace

I enjoyed their music growing up but maybe a sign im old is I really don't care for it anymore. Its seems almost anytime I turn on the local rock station its AC/DC.

Mostly just NPR anymore when driving. I have a springsteen cd and an avril levine my daughter left in my truck.

Sorry guys, my way back machine has AC DC "dying" after Bonn Scott died in 1980. I saw them with Led Zeppelin and Judas Priest in Oakland coliseum at one of Bill Graham's, Day(s) on the Green.

Everyone after tried to fill his shoes.

In the July 2004 issue of Classic Rock, Scott was rated as number one in a list of the "100 Greatest Frontmen Of All Time" ahead of Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant. Hit Parader ranked Scott as fifth on their 2006 list of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Vocalists of all time.

Linky

Heres a list of of some of his best. "T.N.T." and "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" are two personal fans. If people like AC DC its for their music from my era.

Nyah, Nyah!

Bon Scotts 10 "best"

Dirty deeds, first track here, is original.

They can't continue without Malcom. People don't realize he was the brains of that band. Angus can solo, but Malcolm writes it all.
If he really did have a stroke then they are done. I wouldn't bother looking for a replacement at this point.

AC/DC are rock Gods, it sounds a real sad situation for them, but Malcolm will know it probably is the end and he can't be replaced, end of.

I will continue to their back catalogue and remember the good times I had listening to their tunes. Thunderstruck, is probably my all time favourite, but their early songs with Bon Scott really were raunchy.

It's a long way to the top, if you wanna rock n roll!!

Best wishes to all of them, but a BIg one to Malcolm.

Hey jude....don't let me down....

I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist!
But seriously......NOOOOOO!
I promised myself that if they EVER did a concert anywhere near me, that I would go.
They are my all time favourite band...listen to their cd's in the car....every road trip.

I hope it's just a rumour.

I agree about 1980. When Bon Scott died AC/DC did as well. Saw them in N.C. in 1979. Used to blast the neighbors with them on Sat mornings. Nothing against the new singer...but he aint Bon Scott. It's probally time to retire.....

It's probably time to retire…..

I'll miss them too. Riding a name into the dirt is bad for a bands immortality, in my opinion.

Look at Led Zep. They quit early and are forever rock gods. Later generations still know who they are.

Nowadays, someone in the music, money making, vile producer ranks will always try to squeeze as much money from a name as possible.

Shame on them, may they eat fresh turds forever.

Malcom Young = The greatest rock rhythm guitarist of all time.
ACDC helped me through some good and bad times. Wish I could return the favor, Malcom. Get well, buddy.

Some people can fully recover from strokes, but it could take years if he recovers at all. This is very sad news indeed and my heart goes out to him, his family and friends. A truly talented man who will be remembered always.

Sad to hear about Malcom and the end of AC/DC. I hope it is not true. AC/DC was the only group in Rock history to get away with having the words "Rock N' Roll" in the title song. I love those guys. Brian Johnson was jamming with Billy Joel in concert a few weeks ago.

In the early '90's, Malcom briefly left the band to recover from his alcohol addiction. They got a nephew of the Youngs to play rhythm guitar during the tour. The nephew looked like Malcom and he could play very well.

Malcom is 61 years YOUNG. The man did a lot of hard living on a tiny frame. I thought his alcoholism would get the better of like the late Bon Scott. I was surprised that Malcom suffered a stroke.

I wish the Young Family all the best to a speedy recovery.

I feel bad for Malcom if this is true, but (and I know this not a particularly original statement), if they want to release new albums, all they have to do is take 1-2 songs from each previous album, speed them up or slow them down (does not really matter which), and release them as if they are new. I doubt anyone would know the difference.

Signed, a former AC/DC fan.

These guys were going strong when I was a teeny...now I'm 53.

What makes people do that for so long?

I remember the lead guitarist used to go on stage dressed as a schoolboy (umm...not sure who that was supposed to appeal to:barf
.

Never did like em. Too loud and 2-dimensional.

Good though if you're drunk and angry.
