And this is ONLY Latin America.... and only in the past 50 years. (Sigh)
I guess picture is worth a thousand words..

For most of the recent past, U.S. forces and forces armed and trained by the United States have regularly and violently intervened in the affairs of Latin American countries, establishing brutal autocracies to prevent the expansion of Communism. The ends may have justified the means in some cases, but certainly not in all.

While you can criticize US foreign policy with iraq or afghanistan or whatever... come on man... with such close neighbors like that, I cant really blame them. Can you imagine any European country with neighbors like that? Yea you cant... you know why? Because they would have been "taken care of" during our famous "middle ages" lol

Most of south american countries should actually thank the US... thank they allow them to exist for instance.

Have you read that list?

Are you saying it's all bad?

There's loads of stuff like this on that large impressive list

1822 – Cuba: United States naval forces suppressing piracy landed on the northwest coast of Cuba and burned a pirate statio

Look there's even a similar case to Crimea

1852–53 – Argentina: - February 3 to 12, 1852; September 17, 1852 to April 1853, Marines were landed and maintained in Buenos Aires to protect American interests during a revolution.[RL30172]

But no annexation

I do not know if peope know it but, their was this little thing called the Cold War. Where the West the USSR competed against each other across the planet. So if you want to make a map of interventions by the US in Latin America over the last 50 years then the only way to put it into context and make it a fair evauation would be to include Soviet and Soviet allies interventions the region as well. Of course who wants context or an honest debate on history when you can just smear one side.

USSR no longer exists. US still does and continues to intervene all across the globe including Ukraine. But hey, sure...we can't wait for you to post your small "fair" map. Lol. Get to work, buddy.

So your argument "in context" is the US only started f'ing with Latin America in the 50's due to the Soviets? If so, you are very wrong.

There's hardly been a disruption of government or coup d'état in the world that wasn't instigated by the CIA. If something goes awry in the world these days, the first thing that comes to my mind is CIA. It isn't only in South America. Southeast Asia has been plagued by CIA intervention for 50 years without respite or end. Africa to the extreme. There is no justification for this. The reasons for the first few (Iran and Guatemala) were for oil and a fruit company. Holy crap, how can we be so arrogant much less try to reconcile it with any sense of morality or just cause. For the OP, thanks. At least I'm not the only one who's not falling for this domination crap.

Anytime you see the term "American Interests", your BS meter should be moving in a rather spirited manner. Do secondary research. The term "American Interests" is brought to you by the same criminal trash that think kidnapping, secret prisons, murder, rape, child rape, robbery, theft and using WMD on civilians is just SOP.

Here's some more stuff, not limited to our southern borders:

Yes, but Russia exists and their fingers are all over Ukraine as well. The Bear is awakened again and influencing areas around the world more and more.

Cold War Lite.

Is everything below the US South America? Here's a primer: Mexico is North America. The strip of land below Mexico is Central America. The sub-continent below that strip of land is South America. It's about time to educate ourselves, people.

The United states overthrew and destroyed these countries for financial gain creating a security threat.. This is why presidents preached amnesty and refuge act of 1980..

LMFAO! For a lot of 'Americans' Mexico and all the way down is just "Mexico", we have seen this on ATS in actual threads

There is only Canada, "America" and all the way down there's "Mexico"

Мексика is the entirety of the American continent, except for the US and Canada so it seems

This is/was a short lived thread because most US citizens are unable/afraid to deal with the gazillion fat and white elephants in the "American continent" room
