The last battle is over. The war was fought without a single shot being fired. The military and police stood down, the criminals controlling this country have surrendered, and we the people are victorious.

Just picture it now: Heads hanging low, the criminals in Congress and government are marching out and giving themselves over into our custody. Some of them died at their own hands, unable to stand the thought of facing those whose lives they for so long worked to destroy, but as for those who are still alive--we got them all.

Reid, Pelosi, Boehner, Feinstein, Holder, McCain... even Obama has been reported on his way out of the Oval Office in custody of several hundred civilian peacekeepers.

The government mafia has been rounded up and the citizens have taken their country back. Unequivocally and incontrovertibly, we the people have won.

So my question to you is this: Now what? What do we do to those who've betrayed their country, subverted the will of the people, and violated their oaths to the Constitution?

The easy answer is firing squad, lethal injection, or a long fall with a short rope. But don't be so hasty. Think it through, and consider what kind of society we want to replace the one that just fell apart.

I think that ideally, the only thing that can move humanity forward is a shift to enlightened paradigms. Thus we should be looking to create an enlightened government, with enlightened leadership. So we've got to be super-careful about how we deal with those people who by virtue of unevolved mindstates cause problems in society.

If I had my way I'd force them all to start working on organic farms so they could learn to give something back to the world they tried to destroy for profit, and I'd put them there under the tutelage of enlightened instructors who could slowly rehabilitate away their animalistic egocentric behaviors and restore them to sanity.

Personally I believe the only way to look at and treat these criminals in power is by seeing them as nothing but misbehaving children who need harsh discipline and the opportunity to evolve in a loving society that will help them fix their faults, but won't again make the mistake of letting them anywhere near the helm of this ship we call civilization.

Because if we're being honest, the problems they've caused are partially our fault.

We let the very least among us call the shots. And quite predictably--comically, in a perverse way--they ran the ship aground. We should have rewarded substance over materialism and voted in individuals of spiritual integrity. But instead we went for the smooth-talking snake-oil salesmen who had a bag of lies and a deck of aces up their sleeves.

Moving forward is about recognizing and admitting our mistakes. And boy did we make some big ones.

If we're ever going to move past this state of stilted evolution in which mankind is mired, we'll need to start making the right decisions going forward. That means embracing the higher virtues of forgiveness, compassion, and helping to rehabilitate those who have fallen rather than so hastily going to swords. Personally, I love the mental image of seeing these so-called "elites" elbow-deep in mud, stuck working to feed us after forcing us to work our asses off to feed them...

Almost as much as I like the image of seeing them all led out from DC in chains.

So yeah, that's my vision of how to move forward. What's yours?

Good question, how do we begin the process of restoring our republic?

We must continue to expose the examples of failure to achieve stated goals by the federal, state and local government.

In the end, only a rock solid, complete and thorough catalog of the incompetence, fraud, waste and abuse will ultimately convince the remaining statists of the folly of central power for all but the most critical functions that simply cannot be entrusted to private means.

a long fall with a short rope.

I was thinking a long fall with a bungee that is too long, with broken glass and salt at the bottom.
Maybe?

Organic farms??? They committed treason! These aren't misbehaved children, they are psychopathic criminals. They don't care who they hurt or how, all that matters is them them them. Death is the correct solution for people of this sort. I feel that 'removing' inhuman scum is the epiphany of enlightenment that we need, not more of this 'oh you poor thing' BS.

I guess we would just use the laws in place and throw them in prison. Why let them work on organic farms?

You mention forgiveness but only for the rich and powerful? Lets forgive first the people in prison for life for drugs. Lets forgive the folks on death row for crimes the evidence can prove they did not commit and replace them with the prosecutors who knew it.

I agree with much of what you've said in your OP but I am wary of the word "enlightened". I've known plenty of people who think they're enlightened; I wouldn't want any of them in a position of responsibility beyond making sure the crystals are fully stocked in whatever New Age bookstore they're working in.

I think "enlightenment" comes from society, not the government. I think a government full of people who think they're enlightened wouldn't be able to stop themselves from preaching to the rest of us what it means to be enlightened (in their view) and that's potentially even more dangerous than what we have now.

Interesting question on what to do with surrendering former government officials. There would still be law enforcement organizations at various levels of government functioning so I'd think they should be turned over to LE and then criminal proceedings can go from there if need be.

You don't see poetic justice in forcing them to slave away to support the people, after they expected the people to slave away and support them via taxation?

I mean, the death penalty is great and all, but that punishment is done in a heartbeat. Keeping them alive and making them work for us is the punishment that keeps on delivering for the next twenty, thirty, fifty years.

That is a good question and probably deserves a thread of its own.
I'm sure somewhere it has been written down what the powers of the federal govt should/shall be. (I'm guessing sometime around 1776 but honestly not sure) Of course the country has grown a wee bit since it was probably written.

If there isnt already there should be a website dedicated to nothing but the hypocrisy and corruption of elected officials.

I see the poetic justice but as somebody who has been behind bars I can say being outside and allowed to do something would have been great.
Far better to lock them up inside, not like they know how to actually work.

Exactly!
This statement is so true, not only for the US, but also for all western nations.

If I might add, a mere reset doesn't solve any of our system-immanent problems.
Honest, thorough, structural reforms also need to take place towards sustainable and sound economics.
That is what we need, not a mere reset.
But that is what we call austerity of course... and people don't want to hear it.
As long as this is the case, the next step forward will be nothing but a big step back.

As to your premisse that your current politicians just happened to be evil people... they were just people. Period.
I'm sorry to tell you this, but people are corruptible. The sooner you realize this the better.

If you just replace them with the next load of people, put them in a corrupting position in a corruptible environment... you will have the exact same result again.

No, I really don't understand what you fascination with organic farms is either... These people are too rich and powerful to be kept as prisoners. It will just end up like that little rich punk from TX who was deemed too wealthy to serve time for killing 4 and injuring 7 others while DUI. True enlightenment is to remove these things from human society for ever. Plain, simple, and effective.

I also believe that other criminals that aren't treasonous shouldn't be in prison either. They are the ones that should be kept as slaves/wards. I don't mean organic farms either, I'm talking about chain gang hard labor, improving out failing infrastructure. Do you have any idea how much commercial construction costs? These people should be forced to lighten the load on honest tax payers by building and repairing bridges, dams, roads, etc. However treasonous POS should always be executed.

Are you implying that construction is more honest work than agricultural work?
I happen to know both, and I assure you working in agriculture is nothing short but hard work.

Yeah, I worked as a concrete foreman for a few years during college, I constantly lost guys who went back to Cali to work on farms even though we payed them considerably more.

Also farms are private enterprises, our infrastructure is owned by all citizens. Who is the debt owed to again???

A long prison term with a cell mate named "Bubba" who likes to tell others "you have a pretty mouth" sounds like a good punishment for me.

Haha I totally agree as well, but the problem with that is someone has to pay for them to be in prison. What if the guy who is shackled next to him is named bubba... sure their day might be laborious, but what happens in the tent stays in the tent

Dump them in a fenced non fertile area (in Africa) with low level tools and no commodities and let the work for their lives. No health care at all. Also remove their possibility to procreate.

They have done the same thing to millions of people by their action. They do not deserve people wasting time to teach them anything.

Just imagine you lived in the real world.

After this miraculously bloodless coup, confidence in America, in our economy our ability/willingness to pay debts, the dollar etc evaporates and economies crash around the world. The triumphant, self-appointed "freedom fighters" become the new temporary government. Maybe they announce they are holding off having elections for a while, chaos ensues — maybe they hold elections and chaos still ensues. Meanwhile, nobody is paying the bills and federal employees, social security recipients, government pensioners, unemployed people, etc aren't getting paid but it really doesn't matter because all of the banks are closed and the dollar is worth next to nothing which is no big deal because nobody is at the grocery store to sell you the food that was never delivered.

If we're super lucky, nobody tries to opportunistically occupy us (because that never happens) and we eventually elect a new congress, president and vp — maybe they're idealistic revolutionaries — for about 10 minutes before they become drunk with power and then we're living under real dictatorship and the same drama queens who are always blabbering about revolution will look back fondly at the good 'ol days — in secret of course because the new leader tortures and kills dissenters.

In the best case scenario, the revolutionaries pull off democratically electing a new government and quickly transition themselves out of power and we're all filled with pride in our fellow Americans and things slowly return to normal. Then what? We hold regular elections, people who want to get elected need money to run their campaigns, they lie about their intentions, who they're in bed with, indebted to, etc. So in the end we're not even back to square one.

We the people have an opportunity at regular intervals to elect new leaders. Why is a "revolution" a more sensible solution than uniting, regardless of political ideology, to demand things term limits and reform the election process?

What the hell purpose is there in fantasizing about how best to punish deposed politicians?

Exile.

To any country that will publicly accept them.

If there is no country that will, death.

That is, of course, after a fair trial is given to each of them.

If people want a more lenient route, a method which isn't very barbaric, there is also the punishment of never being able to hold a public office again in any capacity.
