Check this out! But then again maybe it's not such a surprise to some people.

One out of six Americans can't find the Ukraine on a map.

Washington Post Blog Ukraine

TextAccuracy varies across demographic groups. In general, younger Americans tended to provide more accurate responses than their older counterparts: 27 percent of 18-24 year olds correctly identified Ukraine, compared with 14 percent of 65+ year-olds. Men tended to do better than women, with 20 percent of men correctly identifying Ukraine and 13 percent of women. Interestingly, members of military households were no more likely to correctly locate Ukraine (16.1 percent correct) than members of non-military households (16 percent correct), but self-identified independents (29 percent correct) outperformed both Democrats (14 percent correct) and Republicans (15 percent correct). Unsurprisingly, college graduates (21 percent correct) were more likely to know where Ukraine was than non-college graduates (13 percent correct), but even 77 percent of college graduates failed to correctly place Ukraine on a map; the proportion of college grads who could correctly identify Ukraine is only slightly higher than the proportion of Americans who told Pew that President Obama was Muslim in August 2010.

Thank God Obama decided again to not intervene.

Remember the Republicans prefer to send in military.

But not this time.

It's just (South) East of Poland, but apparently that won't help many Americans...

Yes Obama does have his uses. I'm so glad McInsane's not President. He'd be slobbering all over this with Americans trying to hold him back. However did you notice how keen Obama was to attack Syria? Unless that was all bluster. Either way we're broke and we just can't afford more military misadventures.

I could not agree more with this sentiment.

That's unbelievable. Then I went to a US map of the world and couldn't find it either!

We should still stay out of it though.

bs, i know exactly where ukraine is located and even i think it's a bad idea to ignore Russia's actions, if history is any lesson then i can say the path of reconquest is a desire many great nations have had and usually follow(i've waited for their real ambition to finally show itself for 20 years now and i can say i'm not disappointed), russia wants their borders restored to it's former glory and i don't doubt they will push it now, even more than that it makes sense from their position and the global climate(peoples state of mind, economic conditions, etc) is ripe for exploiting and anti-western propaganda will set in more easily than at other times in the past.
it won't end at crimea, our actions or lack thereof have shown russia that they can do as they please and we won't actually stop them.
we look even weaker now, deluded by our false peace, it's going to get crazy for the next decade or so after this, now that it's clear how spineless the west has become, i hope i'm wrong(not really) but get ready for some serious hardships and conflict much like hasn't been seen in 40 years or more. it might be a good change to have a bit of unexpected chaos for the clueless modern humanity though, we haven't been seriously shaken up in awhile.

I know exactly where Ukraine is on a map and I still agree with Putin. The bankers lost. They need to go lick their wounds and find another place to enslave people in debt.

you mean 1 out of 6 CAN find Ukraine on the map?

reading you said 1 out of 6 cannot find I was thinking: "oh my god, those americans are improving!" then I read the source.

1 out of 6 CAN find Ukraine on the map.

and it is not bad result considering elements involved.

I am sure some other countries would be even tougher to find.

Thank you for that morning giggle......although I'm still unsure if I laughed at the map itself or the fact that I immediately thought of a dozen people who could only identify these country locations by using this map. Either way, this OP does not surprise me. Many Americans can't properly identify all 50 of our own state's locations. Through my own kids, I know firsthand how lacking some curriculums have become in history and world geography.

Awesome map!

lol

As soon as the Ukraine issue started up I went and read about what kind of history Ukraine had with Russia and the USSR.
It is pretty clear reading what all has occurred there that we (the US) should stay out of it militarily.
Hell, just look at a map, and you would know thru common sense that it is a no no place for us.
This is Russia's back door not ours.

We go poking around there and it could very quickly be a nuke war.
Kind of like the Cuban missile crisis.

That is why it should be an international problem, between Russia, Ukraine, and NATO countries that border the Ukraine and Russia. The US needs to just shut up and stay out of it as much as possible.

But then, that is just my opinion, and has been since it began.

Your bankster overlords will be most happy to loan you a few billions to do their bidding.

Just like they did for the other wars or when you had to bail out the banks because they didn't have enough money.
