Yes, WW2 did not start overnight. These things take time, just because they scrambled fighters 80 times in 1 quarter last year does not make it normal.

I think we just need to take a step back and look at the big picture. Its like a puzzle just with half the pieces missing at the moment.

This has been going on since the height of the Cold War. It's not WWIII, or "ermagherd!" It happens all over, from Europe to Japan, and everywhere in between.

Russia has even done mock bomb runs on European cities for training.

Care to share what european cities and what years? If you are talking about old soviet bloc countries then the point is moot.

This came into reuters. I believe there may be more than what appears normal... Does Japan need more help? Hmm... Japan has ability to defend itself. But may need help in counterstrike....

I cant link it but its front page of reuters.com

They do this with the U.K all the time also, whenever we do something to piss the ruskies off they start sending their planes right up to our borders to test our preparedness. It's just posturing of the russian kind, those crazy ruskies.

Here's a link from 2010 which shows how often they do it.

I think something may be going on with Japan.
They seem at their wits end with first the order to intercept NK missiles and now having to scramble fighter jets because of Russia.

I am pretty sure that there is something going on in that area of the world something that we do not know about and maybe it is the flashpoint that initiates conflict in the next couple months. Im not sure about rt.com being a good source anymore and this could be nothing.

US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is now here in Japan. It's all about this:

Hagel meets Abe, welcomes Japan's efforts

US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has welcomed the Japanese government's move to change the interpretation of the Constitution so as to allow the country to exercise its right to collective self-defense.

Yep! It's finally happening. Japan will now have it's right to collectively self defend itself. But what people don't know is that just a week ago high level talks in both North Korea and China by the Japanese have taken place.

What's happening now is? Stay tune. Because nothing happens here in Japan.

I wouldn't throw a paper airplane for Chuck Hagel let alone scramble my jets for the guy.

I'm talking about 2013. I'll find the stories when I have time later today. Going from memory it was near Switzerland. Bombers, fighters, and ELINT aircraft have been intercepted off Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Alaska, the UK, and Japan, starting again from about 2009 or so.

Japan and Russia are both posturing for those uninhabited islands for some time now. North and South Korea have islands they both claim and North korea has similar disputes with japan over certain islands.

Why would anyone care about uninhabited islands? Why would anyone care about breaches of sovereign airspace? A Syrian warplane was shot down a couple weeks ago that breached Turkish airspace. Nobody questioned it, No one even blinked. We are so desensitized these days that we cant view the global situation properly.
The only way proper war could be fought where new lines is multiple conflicts on multiple fronts with several countries. If the North Koreans see Russians posturing, they will posture too. This may not happen for months or years but there will be another world war. All is needed is one egotistic leader to set it off. At the moment we have plenty to choose from
