The PDF explains the policy. With some logic that should be used along with some other logic. Unlike most of the blind drivel being posted here.

NOW I'm done.

Some of that is set-up by the false sense of securing the perimeter. The most damage to any operation is that which is conducted by 'the inside man.' This incident being 'another' case-in-point. -sigh-

Yeah someone definitely lost their snip to take guns away from the people they sent off to fight their wars.

Maybe they shouldn't be sending them to war.

Go live with someone with some real PTSD when there are firearms around for a minute and have them shoot the ceiling and aim said firearm at you and your kid.

Go figure out that it's very possible that many troubled cops who react disproportionately are probably a very large percentage former combat vets.

Then go back to your star-seeking broad, sweeping, strongly proclaiming statements made without any kind of logic or reality applied to them and with your nitpicking of a single word out of context without ever replying to anything that doesn't fit your rahrah crap. Whatever makes you feel powerful and wise.

I don't happen to agree with all that much of what you say and how you say it. And I don't much care if you feel the same about me or not.

Press conference from Hood started...

www.kcentv.com...

Three victims plus shooter killed. Confirmed.

FBI, Rangers, State Police, and more on the case.

No mention of any names, not even the shooter's. Shooter had behavior and mental health issues. Under diagnosis for PTSD but not diagnosed. No names being released pending notification of next of kin.

Fired in one building. Got into a vehicle and fired from the vehicle. Went into another building and fired. Used a .45 cal semi-automatic S&W recently purchased. Was not assigned to WTU.

Commander stated that concealed carry is not allowed on base and shouldn't be. They have law enforcement on base.

No idea about premeditation.

And that's about that.

The news I am hearing seems to know nothing, as usual. Maybe some truth is coming out.

I've known a lot of combat veterans. Some are relatives, some are friends but I've never, ever heard of one of them doing the things you describe. Not saying it didn't happen to you but I'd say there was more than just PTSD---say maybe some alcohol or other legal drugs involved as well?
I hope you had sense enough to get him locked away where he belongs.
You cannot judge all combat veterans by one nut that you happened to live with. There's a Latin name for that as well, but I can't recall at present just what it is.
As for the latest shooter, if he was a combat veteran I'm sure we'll hear that "He was given treatment. We gave him all the appropriate drugs." And I'm sure it will be true. The guys these days are given a cocktail of legal drugs that would kill a large moose and told to go their way and be happy. Then the docs act all surprised when the warnings on the drugs about homicidal or suicidal ideation actually happen.

From the press conference on KTWX.

The guy just said he is not ruling out 'terrorism'.

The weapon used was a .45 ACP S&W pistol that was recently purchased according to the Commander of III Corps, Lieutenant General Mark A. Milley.

He also stated that the shooter served four months in Iraq in 2011.

Probably nothing.. but he most certainly DID say "9 mil" when describing the confrontation with the last person...and before he just corrected himself by a media point a moment ago.

Probably nothing...

* Sorry Mirth... I was posting from an earlier point and hadn't even seen your post as what mine was coming right after. The General seemed defensive when correcting himself and saying 'if I'd said 9 millimeter'.

I think LTG Milley just slipped up. After previously saying the shooter was armed with a semi automatic .45, he later said when the shooter was confronted by LE, he reached under his jacket and pulled out a 9mm and put it to his head and shot himself. He said this approximately 10:48 pm eastern.

My friend who is at Hood works with these people. I lived through this with both my father and my ex, who was never right. My brother-in-law had similar issues but did not have a gun. He choked people.

There are documented cases of many, many families being in this situation. Some wives have even been killed. You are fortunate you never had to live through this hell, and trust me it is hell...for both the person living it and anyone close to them.

And there are pretty much always drugs and/or alcohol involved.

Yeah, he likely did just slip up. He's dealing with a real rush up in adrenaline and crash down as the immediate incident ended. Those little goofs just seem to be what gets brought up later as a smoking something or other.

Hmm, don't like the sounds of that. The VA is already taking away veterans guns for being diagnosed with PTSD. Wonder if we'll see a push to disarm even more vets who they think may have issues?

Also really hate it whenever I see the "FBI" is involved (I know it's their job.) Makes me wonder just how long they've been involved. Wouldn't surprise me to see in the near future they had some kind of contact with the shooter previously.
