It's the real deal. Take it or leave it.

Not an April 1st joke, because the story was already going around yesterday in a different thread.*
This is a case of scholars probably making a genuine discovery but "spinning" it in a misleading way.
The discovery which is plausible is that this cup was once venerated in the Egyptian church as the cup used in the Last Supper.
The "spin" lies in the assumption that the Egyptian church had the genuine article, which is very implausible for a number of reasons. What is more likely is that it was either made or acquired for the purpose of being displayed.

PS * I've just noticed, though, that the original sources are in Australia, which starts April 1st before the rest of us.

Thanks for that, I'll add that comment to the thread I linked because what you said totally makes perfect sense.

That's the secret so you should trust in your instincts more often.
I realize you want to play it safe and I do all the time so I'll try to also take my own advice if I can manage it.
