Source: any thing or place from which something comes, arises, or is obtained

Influence: the capacity or power of persons or things to be a compelling force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions, etc.

Education: the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.

Fact: a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true. Something said to be true or supposed to have happened.

So what your saying is, I will just have to trust you?
Our education that we receive is deemed to be of the highest standards based on fact. Says who?
For a moment, think about it. Is that a fact? Prove it.

A fact as stated above, is a truth known by actual experience or observation or something 'known' to be true. Says who? Where do we get our facts of life from? Education.

Education 'teaches' us what its all about. Its a panel of people that decide and Influence what we read in our text books and what we are 'allowed' to learn in our schools. I don't know for certain that Jesus existed, I have been told by our sources he did, I have never met the source, but apparently, according to my education, they are a reliable one. Facts that are told through the bible and other sources. But I wasn't there. I wasn't there for the moon landing, I wasn't there when the wall came down at Berlin in 89, I wasn't a cowboy or an 'Indian' (Native American), nor was I among those that discovered America. So as far as I am concerned, up until the day of my birth, and upon reaching an age of being able to remember what has happened in my life, its all just been one big, long, story...

A story that is very enthralling at times and of great interest to me. Now please, do not get me wrong. I am not trying to suggest that these things are not true, I am merely attempting to breach the wall of the source of reliability. Who am I to argue with them, I wasn't there, but I am, like everyone else, relying on the books and the statements of the 'trusted' peoples facts.

In the end, it comes down to a stamp of approval. If it has a stamp of approval, its legit, no questions asked, it has the all powerful, stamp of approval. (Whispered) question it not.......

What if someone, that has no 'stamp' has a fact for you? Because it does not have a stamp, does this mean that it did not happen, or it does not exist? A question of fact is a question concerning the reality of an alleged event or circumstance in a trial by jury, usually determined by the jury. We are the jury when it comes down to certain facts. Did anyone witness what I did several years ago in the Wolds of Yorkshire in the UK? No, do many people believe me??? Does that mean it did not happen? Can you see where I am going with this?

I present many 'facts' from what I would consider a reliable source, this reliability may differ from the person I am talking to about the 'facts';
"Where did you hear that?"
"Says who?"
"Why isn't it on the news?"
Oh, I see, your looking for that 'Stamp' from a government that we all trust? That we know do not tell us lies at all? That don't false-flag, or undermine, or ridicule at all, ever... hmmm-kay.

If we want to hone in to one of the main sources of the deliberate 'dis-information' that is circulating in our every day life, then you can bet it's influence is increased in the schools. In-fact, if the 'awakened' way of thinking could start in the schools, the sooner we can battle this ruddy out right EVIL.

What we learn in a class room or a text book, is what we carry with us in our life. Its our deliberate 'given' knowledge that we cannot necessarily choose to believe or not. Apart from our own unique experiences, we are engineered to fit those facts into our own lives. The moon landing, I had been convinced that it had not happened to be honest, my opinion changed, the more I did my own research into the subject and found other very valuable sourced information that I did change my own mind about the subject. So we can change our minds. But its not a case of debunking 'moon landings' or sightings, its about whats is going on behind the scenes that people are so oblivious to. Its dangerous how subjugated we are and how ridiculous we think anyone is for 'daring' to say otherwise.

We go with what we have been told we know. To listen to the people that we 'trust', those people with the stamp of approval. Please just remember the next time somebody gives you a 'fact', and you ask where the source is from. By all means, investigate the source, make up your own mind about the source, we aren't mindless idiots, we are intelligent, decipher the BS for yourself, you never know, the next time somebody mentions UFO's and Illuminati control of the media and the reach of its influential governing body, this could well be a ruddy fact, the research has been done, the people were where they were when they said they were.
These are the testimonies of ex government ranked officers and rates, scientists and R&D department heads, people that have worked at this facility, or that facility, or was there when they said they were. And you get the, "wow look at this AMAZING information... Where is it from?" Oh, it hasn't come from a well known media source or an 'official' (make-me-laugh) statement that everyone was privy to? Then it cant be a fact... can it?

A lie will always be a lie, even if everybody believes it, and the truth is still the truth even if nobody believes it...

I agree with much of what you say. The way that I see it, each country puts its own "spin" on a variety of subject matters or "facts" that are deemed beneficial to how its public views the country as a whole. One of the biggest and most obvious categories of this would be history. Our educational system basically teaches a specific narrative that is really very homogenized in its presentation to essentially create a narrative of our collective nationalistic memory. Those things that may paint us in a poor light or threaten the desired narrative just simply don't seem to get taught within our educational system.

There's a really good book on this subject by a sociologist by the name of Maurice Halbwach. He's been heavily labeled a socialist and died of dysentery while being imprisoned by the Gestapo. His Collective Memory is really a phenomenal work, which I find is filled with a whole lot of poignant truth. As a teaser, here's a quote from that work:

We are unaware that we are but an echo. The whole art of the orator probably consists in his giving listeners the illusion that the convictions and feelings he arouses within them have come not from him but from themselves, that he has only divined and lent his voice to what has been worked out in their innermost consciousness. Maurice Halbwach, The Collective Memory

Basically what Halbwach discusses within it is this idea of a common or collective memory that a society holds. How this could potentially play into the intentional building of a national history is that, overtime, events may lose their impact or even be forgotten as the generations within them grow old and die. So while for us, most of us remember 9/11 as being a significantly traumatic event in all of its fullness, following generations will instead have that event taught to them as a part of our nation's history without all "the additives" of the experience, itself. Many events, like the Wall Street Bombing of 1920, did not get passed on within that collective memory of our nation although they may have radically shaped the fabric of our government and ideologies to the core at the time.

There's a whole other history out there that isn't taught that really solidifies how we got "here". However, most people don't seem to question the why behind some of our most prevalent ideologies and attitudes, let alone think that there were events that happened that did have profound impact but were not part of the educational dialogue for at least many Americans within our country.

"On Collective Memory" is only available for download via Scribd, which I find rather humorous, but it can be ordered or perhaps even found at one's local library. I think it's worth the extra effort. www.scribd.com...

Howard Zinn wrote "A People's History of the United States" with the probable intent to negate the effects of an established history. Depending on who was reading it, it was either praised or reviled as revisionist. Was he being a radical revisionist in writing it or was he reporting on those things that were forgotten or downplayed? Hard to say but reading the critical reviews of the book on the wiki page for it are pretty entertaining in their disparity:

Not bad OP. I've come to remember various times through out life I've had to question whats in my head!

Ideas, facts and the like do become outdated, change and some hold their ground without your even knowing! Then one day something comes along and breaks down the concepts you have or overloads your understanding of things.

Some will break down, some will fly off the top while others never had a clue. For myself, I've come to find out it is a good thing to happen if one allows it. Placing things; your mind, in a box as Understood causes trouble later on in life. For some reason, the mind Has to understand Everything. Adds it to a file in the box and calls it good.

It would seem since childhood we are taught How to think, be and act. Things brought, told to you are facts and since theirs no actually chance to question anything at that age, it is tagged as fact. Basicly while your growing up, you follow.

So later when you grow up; hopefully Never!, you either question why or come up with some sickness going around, so the Dr. gives you the pills to cope and all is good. Yet, lying in bed unable to sleep is very bad for Ya. Some drink, do drugs, hang out with friends yet never doing the one thing that could actually help.

Stop hiding from yourself! If something bugs you, nags at you and is constant everyday in your life, Take a good look at it! Write the stuff down, cry and get to understanding yourself better. You might have friends to talk to although talking to yourself is much better.

Fear of Change and as you all know Everything changes or becomes so stagenet you work so hard keeping it the same you lose anyway. Change is good if one uses their heads and thinks for themselves. No one has the words, yet you hear " It will get better". Sometimes it gets even Harder!

Sorry Op! Fingers gone doing things themselves. makes you wonder if the idea of thinking for yourself went out the Window long ago. The list of Special People out there do not want you to actually question, just follow the crowd. This is the Age of Stupid although I see people are Waking Up!

It's Okay to actually say, I do not know and leave it at that. Like, why am I here? Is their a god? Who am I? Will it make any difference finding the answeres to them so-call important questions?

All one can do is give it their best, knowing inside that today I gave 45%. Tomorrow could be 25% or 79%. As long as Its your best for that day! Sleep will never leave you nor any need for pills they hand out like Candy.

Peace

"I love the movies, dont you?"

It dawned on me for the first time the other day that the powers that where in place to ensure that an awakened way of thinking was not allowed to flourish, have in fact no need to do the job that they had set out to do. It’s not the government, the Presidents or the Prime Ministers that are having to batter down the people that dare speak of an alternate world that we live in, filled with answers to the questions that we are all seeking. It’s your mates, it’s your work colleague, it’s the guys and gals down the bar, and it’s your family that cannot, neigh, WILL not hear of such absurd, and mind bending truths. It’s easier to say “What a load of t’wash, you have been watching too many movies.”

To that I say, “If you had any idea how silly ‘you’ sound. You really have no idea what’s going on do you, tell me, when was the last time you looked at the facts for yourself? Rather than just repeating what you heard on the CNN/BBC government controlled channels that you ‘oh so trust?’ The next time your angry at the government for something they have/haven’t done, I don’t want to hear it. If you are willing to buy into this BS then please, you have no right to moan about it, if you are going to ridicule the ‘uprising minds’ then you are a hypocrite. A coward in fact, to hide with the crowd where you are safe from exploitation.”

“You think that these movies you’re talking about, have story lines that are such, just to amuse and bemuse you? That there are aren’t many ‘a’ folk that make these movies that know some details surrounding ‘real’ events that have happened in one form or another? You don’t think TV shows like Stargate and the X-Files haven’t a number of episodes that weren’t based on true events? And they haven’t been approached by officials claiming that some of their episodes where in direct violation of national security? And they wanted to know how they got their story lines?

Movies you’re referring to like, ET (for the kids) or Close Encounters of the Third Kind (for the bigger kids) where in actual fact events that had happened. What do you think to that? For a moment during you’re ‘movie’ wash out, let’s take a look at some of the most famous and money making directors shall we. Steven Spielberg, think of a mentioned few already, George Lucas, hmm can’t think of anything that he might have had a whiff of and reproduced, James Cameron again any magnificent story lines based on anything extra-terrestrial? No, how about Michael Bay or Peter Jackson? The Wachowski brothers? All in the top 10 money grossing directors of all-time? What is it that made them all that wonga? Great movies right, how many of them stand out for the science (cough) fiction movies? Have you done a background check on these people or know who they were involved with or where they got their stories from? Oh you haven’t…. Is that because your telly didn’t tell you?

Here are some of the points that I believe are firmly the reason for keeping most of this dis-information happening.

The Secret – So farfetched and intertwined with one another that believing just one would open up someone’s understanding of the rest of the plight that we have in the modern day western world. The problem is that they all sound so bizarre and mentally disturbingly far-fetched that it is, in its entirety, hard to believe, by anyone’s standards.

The People – afraid to say anything out of the ordinary ‘box’ for fear of ridicule, they support and maintain the level of ‘control’ that the fractions wished to instate in the first place. Now there is no need for much control from outside forces, we do it all for them.

This is EXACTLY what I felt as well

It makes me wonder though, do others on ATS [given this thread does not have much following] feel the victimization of a sheeple? I say this because regardless of what you believe in the education system THIS OP rings true on so many levels. SO MANY!!!

Be safe be well

Another one that you might be interested in is Edward Ross' "Social Control: A Survey on the Foundations of Order". That one is available online: archive.org.../n10/mode/2up

Ross is yet another stinking Eugenicist and a definite "weirdo". However, some of his observations about society were pretty apropos and he pretty much nailed the varying streams of influence with society from the pockets of origin within society as well as the means. Number one means? Public opinion. In Alsworth's time, public opinion was considered to be more rampant and wildly inclined. Although he mentions the likelihood of the US becoming more and more condensed (simple farmers becoming corporate), in today's world, it's not so hard to see that public opinion in a completely different light as the entertainment media and press industries have condensed as well. They are essentially those who beat the drum of public opinion.

Ross is hard to read because he does have a kind of naive arrogance that borders on pathological (eugenicist after all). However, his foundations of order are pretty spot on in my opinion and worth a read.

All of the Greatest movies out their, I was a part of it in some small way.

So was everybody else! Most do not remember. Time lag my @, No. Flashback! Time does not exist, be it past, now, future and what I call 100 different Me's.

At every major choice in your Life; Classroom, lessions someday have to be tested! So at each test, a other you begans to follow that path. How does one actually learn the outcome from choice A from B?

You do know The Gods were being very creative allowing us to become Self Aware? Say at one point of my life, many! I've had to choose left from right, evil or good, what was right/wrong, hails from tails.

Come to remember it, even in prison I felt myself outside living the other side of my choice! Would really bite if I woke up there tonight! LOL Of course though, would have to go back to 1989, and make the choice again!

Even dreaming of something so far advanced, Like In the Movies! It reminds us of what really is going on in the world.

Peace

Interesting thread. I have to put my "I wash here." under the toilet seat.

History is full of mystery to me. Not everything interests me, but I do like to read old things and see old pictures on occasion; often even. I don't think everything good and useful is in our future. I think some things in our past.

YOu know what I like? When I find out something new about something old. Like unlocking a door you never knew was there and finding new things.

I understand the "I wasn't there." feeling. I can see pictures clearly depicting the past, but of course I wasn't there. I assume it existed because there's a lot of evidence it did: pictures, videos, writings, people saying it did, etc.

I'm at a stage in life where I really want to BE. I want to talk. I want to work. Want to smell and take things in. I want to appreciate it. I want to record it.

Lord knows, X years from now an AI might be browsing the very very old ATS archives and reading this. I doubt it, but if so, hello there AI overlord. You want to know what it's like X years ago??? I'm at my computer. Books all over on my desk and an organized chaos and a single light behind me without which I'd be almost blind. There's a book in front of me:"How Children learn" by John Holt. Got a stack of old National Geographic from 1990's. "The Unexpected Universe" by Loren Eisely. Haven't finished. I just logged off Second Life; I was looking at a Zoltar vending machine in one of the cyberpunk sim's (insilico) when the client crashed and then I started downloading a newer driver. Here I am. I could say a million other things, but I'm not THAT crazy - just a little. Why do you parse these old archives? I can't even grasp all of the reasons you might be here reading this.
