First Time Parents Vs. Experienced Parents

Being the recipient of many hand me downs while growing up, and having had more than one child... I really giggled out loud with about how accurate some of these pictures are. How do they look on your end? Were you the child of an experienced parent?

Regardless of where most of us fell in birth order or how many kids we have... The below is true for most all of us who were among the most fortunate.

Love it! With my first I freaked out over every dropped paci- it had to be sanitized before baby got it back. Every time she ate (once she learned to feed herself) I stressed about the mess she made and the stains.on her clothes. By my third I was like "oh, she dropped her paci.... nothing is sticking to it, she'll be fine". And now my little one is wanting to feed herself all the time, and I'm thinking "yay! That means I get to eat with the rest of the family, not feed the toddler, watch everyone leave, reheat my food and eat alone!"
What a difference from kid 1 to kid 3!
And, my heart has grown infinitely larger with them coming into my world!

I was the same exact way! I worried if other people touched her... would she get sick? Stuff like that. The second one came along and it was a whole new ballgame. I think most people are that way if they admit it. It doesn't mean we love them any less.... we just learn that they break less easy than we thought, the food on their clothes won't stop the earth on it's axis and letting them learn from some of their mistakes would have been a bit easier.

I took my middle child to the park one day, and she was playing in the dirt, happy as a lark. Now, let me say, while I have relaxed a ton about parenting, I still watch my children like a hawk. But, I just let sit by the slide and rub her hands all in the dirt. Another mother (and there were only 4 parents there) got quite upset and stood up saying "whose child is this?!". A bit huffy. I told her, "She's mine, and she's fine". I can understand if a child is hurt or crying, but just because I, shudder to think, let her get dirty..... oh the horror

Haircut?! Are you serious?

I have yet to see any of my family or friends tend to grooming habits with the 1st or 3rd kid.


Or make-up. I drink to tolerate, lol

Haha this is awesome & so true! I always laugh at how i was with my first child (i call her my practice child haha) and then my third. I went from crazy obsessive compulsive, like i wouldnt even let people touch her without hand sanitiser to my third all relaxed and handing the baby to anyone who would hold him so i could have 2 minutes to myself haha! I think 2 kids is the perfect number, i didnt even get headaches until i had 3 kids! Lol so worth every single one of them they give me though

With my first baby I followed all doctors and magazines instructions to the T.......with my second one I became a bit more laid back.....
With my third one I used to hold her on my left hip with my left hand, whilst cooking with my right hand.......somehow, I managed not to burned the house down and we've all survived in one piece!!!
hahaha

I grew up in the 80s, playing outside until it was dark, drinking water from a hose, never wearing a helmet and yet here I am.....that was a great childhood!

Great thread. For my first child, I not only read every new mother magazine I could get my hands on, but researched different ways to birth a child. I also bought many child psychology books, and when two psychologists would disagree on a point, I would buy another book from another doctor for the 2 out of 3 decision. I found that I did use some advice from research, but for the most part, we all muddled through it together and crossed the bridges as we came to them. For the second child, it was a breeze.

As usual! Stars for everyone that participated! I am glad to see that all parents have some common threads regardless of who they are, where they come from, wealth, etc. This shows that parenting sucks equally for everyone.

I am teasing of course... kind of. Ask me again tomorrow.

LOL with my mom by the time she had her sixth kid (I was #3), it was old hat LOL

I just sent this to my sister and sister-in-law. They both just had kids. My wife and I have yet to have any kids (still in school), but I'm sure we will be just like this haha.

My Wife and I have 4... The "Experienced" is spot on. I was not so much the "First Timer" as I was the eldest of 4, so, not much I hadn't seen helping out my MomDukes.
