lmao...they keep showing this clip on breakfast t.v over here in Australia. the hosts keep cracking up everytime they see his reaction. she looked like she was ready to ride it out but he was like under the desk before she had a chance.

Sometimes people see "shimmering" air (mirage like) or sparkle ( Earthquake lights) associated with EQ's too. I never have and I been in a few, in and out doors.

With no cupboards in sight.

Really noisy, too. I think what people are referring to is a sonic shock wave associated with some EQ phenomenon. If you were indoors the rumbling could be anything form the walls, foundation, roof, flooring. Everything man made shakes, rattles and rolls during an earthquake. How could you hear anything over that racket?

Centered inland in Westwood, CA. Is this the beginning of something more to come given the 6.9 that just struck off the coast of San Fransisco? Hopefully not. Stay safe.

Edit: Downgraded to a 4.4, still paralyzed me though. I am about 15 miles from the epicenter.

I am not psychic. Some may wish for that gift, I am not one of them. I am not a trying to create doom and gloom. Yet, I feel compelled to share with you that I don't feel good about this event.

Not claiming it is an omen, a precursor or a prediction. It is just a gut feeling, a visceral response to a report of this earthquake. It could be just a stomach twang caused by not having time to eat lunch today. I don't think so though because I rarely get the chance to eat lunch.

I've never seen a video of earthquake lights before, only still photographs--very cool!

Woodland Hills, CA: It was a strong jolt everything in my bedroom was bumping up and down. It was the strongest quake in a few years and probably because I am close to the epicenter. Sunday evening as I was sitting at my computer my entire small townhouse creaked loudly starting from back room to front room. I thought it was a precursor to a quake but nothing happened so I ignored it. I have been having strong urges to prep for an earthquake the last few months and have purchased a lot of non perishable food and lots of water. Who knows, better safe than sorry.

it's ok...there are people back east that think Colorado is out west...even though it's 1000 miles inland from the Pacific ocean. that like saying Iowa is back east because it's also 1000 miles from the Atlantic ocean

If you live in the east then wouldn't Colorado be out west? If I live in Washington state then yes Iowa is in the east.

try telling people in New York, that Iowa is also in the east, they will laugh at you....it just gets me sometimes, in a somewhat strange way....if you divided the country up into 3 areas, it would be the west, the middle, and the east, approx. 800 miles apiece

Do you live here in So Cali? Earthquakes are different. Just because it was a 4.4 does not mean it was not Violent. Some earthquakes roll, some jolt or rock. This one was like several jolts.

The North Ridge quake was only a 6.7 and look at what happened in that quake. Granted this was 900 times smaller, still a good wake up call for us, as we have not had many earthquakes the past year. Now we have had 2 in a 3 day span.
