Ok heres the deal..

the media brainwashes everyone. not just media, everything.

All these stupid commercials for makeup, that feature some tv star, and all the commercials on tv that make it look like

gee, life would be better if we owned this this and this.

Television is weak.

so are we.

must I say any more?

If one wants to be brainwashed, he will be.
Yet if one does not... there is a red button on the TV set.

Brainwashing is in all media, spin / propaganda is a type of brainwashing used by polititians , advertising , and news outlets to manipulate and or influence the way the public thinks about certain issues, events or products.

I havn't watched TV in 7 years but I still see the manipulation in other types of media and can easily see the results in society, it effects everyone to some degree.
It is viral... advertisers and politicians create it, TV broadcasts it, radio announcers repeat it, people eventually accept it and use it themselves.

There is no such thing as "whiter than white ".
"Collateral damage" is a euphemism for civilian deaths, and destruction inflicted on civilian targets in the course of military operations
"Friendly fire" is a euphemism for dropping bombs on, shooting at, or killing your allies
There is no such thing as "Fresh Frozen".
"Pre-emptive strike" means Invasion.
What does "At least three shades whiter" mean?... define a shade of white
" A 20 % improvement in the appearance of wrinkles" ...20% as measured by what exactly?
There is no such thing as "An exact estimate" .
There is no such thing as " minor disaster".
There is no such thing as " Almost limitless ".
There is no such thing as "Free with purchase".

...they must cater to "demands and preferences."

...If you want to think for yourself, demands and preferences of the masses simply is not a satisfying "norm." It's gutteral, lowest common denominator.

...Don't just turn it off; get rid of the TV and all its programming for a year or two; and then you will notice a huge difference in how you actually see the world.

...Not being influenced by political, social or commercial hype, you will develop an entirely personal point-of-view that makes you a much more interesting and versatile human being. You can read, investigate topics of interest; go places and see things--instead of sitting in a chair watching what someone else thinks you ought to "need."

... Try it for a year.

First of all define your terms.

Brainwashing:

Pavlov's Brainwashing Techniques
by Dr. Fred C. Schwarz

In 1924 Leningrad experienced a major flood. Pavlovs dogs were trapped and, for several days, were cut off from human help. When finally they were rescued, their muzzles were just sticking out of the water. For several days, they had been cold, frightened, hungry, and exhausted. After their rescue, the acute observer, Pavlov, noticed a strange thing. Some of his dogs went into a state of profound depression. They lost interest in food, and in the normal activities of a dogs life. There was no barking and no rushing about. Their movements were slow and infrequent. To them life seemed to have lost its luster. Most interesting of all was the fact that in this state their conditioned reflexes were abolished. Pavlov found that he could then condition them according to an entirely different pattern.
Pavlov applied the information thus accidentally discovered to experiments to destroy conditioned reflex patterns.

Comment:
Now think about it, you are having your mind changed, your conditioned reflexes changed almost daily. Remember how they announced the mad cow story, then beef prices went down. Next Atkins became extra popular, then meat prices went through the roof. People immediately were "brainwashed," if you will, and forgot about the idea they were going to waste away some day in a hospital surrounded by tubes, if they ate meat, thinking "Oh my girlish figure is just too important!"

Daily we are barraged by contradictory messages, warnings on cigarette packs, but then look at the magazine ads for the Marboro man, and figure "well that tough cowboy dude smokes 'em, makes me a man, I don't care if they were originally a woman's cigarette with lipstick marks on the filter, no more camel non-filters for me!"

You change your mind daily due to market forces, political forces, mass media is one big hallucination. Hey just go take a walk in the woods for a few years already, you might be the only non-brain damaged person in the country who doesn't know who the President is! Of course that is the first question they ask you in the emergency room, when you have a concussion or something.

Well pull the plug on the news already! It can manipulate you like a mindless robot, so what do you prefer, the blue pill or the red one? Have a nice day in the "matrix."
