Just remember
Putin isn't going to come out of this looking all Hip, Slick and Cool. Russia wants respect? As with the US it has to be earned. What Russia is doing may be popular within a vocal minority but popularity doesn't make it right. Yes, the world IS watching. This isn't so much about making the US look bad, that's easy, We Americans are great at doing that ourselves. He didn't do this for that reason alone although many here will attempt to portray it so.
What we DO have here is Russia blatantly bullying their neighbor.
The world is watching...
Putin predicted the USA would go bust 5 or 6 years ago and everyone laughed

Yeah....
The USSR won
*Facepalm*
Since the late 1920s, the Soviet Union, through its GPU, OGPU and NKVD intelligence services, used Russian Jews and foreign-born nationals as well as Communist, and people of American origin to perform espionage activities in the United States. These various espionage networks had contact with various U.S. government agencies, transmitting to Moscow information that would have been deemed confidential.

The Foundations of Geopolitics, initially published in 1997 when Vladimir Putin became FSB chief, is a military training textbook which has influenced key Russian decision-makers. It states that Russia should use its special forces within the borders of the United States to:
introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics.
According to American counterintelligence, Russian espionage has reached Cold War levels.
