Having known some Sea World trainers, I know they are certainly the kind of folks who have loved animals all their life, and still do. They have these
jobs for just that reason. Hard to imagine them doing anything they felt would be cruel. Simply isn't in their nature, at least the ones I know. Not
to say it is impossible....I just can't picture it.
Kind of like the circus, I think a lot of it really stems from not understanding some animal training basics. For example, people come in our tack
shop and see whips, etc. Trainers don't actually whip a horse. You just use it to make the SOUND to help training. Also, the motion of it just
indicates direction. You never actually make contact with a horse with it.
Oddly enough, by hurting Sea World, animal activists would be doing more harm than good. There's a lot of marine rehab they do, that may be
financially affected by such actions.
