For the longest time, I thought The Buckinghams were singing about "Canada Dry" instead of "Kind of a Drag."

Also, in Spandau Ballet's True, which I used to karaoke to a lot, I would sing:

Always slipping from my hands,
The sands of time on it's own.
Take you a seaside of to write the next line,
Oh, I want the truth to be known.

Apparently, the correct lyrics are:

Always slipping from my hands,
Sands a time of it's own.
Take your seaside arms and write the next line,
Oh, I want the truth to be known.

I think my lines make more sense.

Ok...I don't have a video but when my daughter was 4, she came and asked me a question that seemed really random and strange:

Her: Mommy, what does it mean when they say 'wounded ham'?

Me: Who says that?

Her: You know that song

Me: What song?

Her: The one that was playing in the car.

Me: Can you sing it for me? I play a lot of songs in the car.

Her: (belts out) 'Take time with a wounded ham, cause that's the deal...take time with a wounded ham, cause he had to steal'

Me: (straight face) You mean stealing as in robbing a bank or something?

Her: Yeah he stole something and i think they shot him

Me: Well, there you have it. That's why he's wounded.

Her: ok Mommy.

The actual lyrics from "Creep" by Stone Temple Pilots:

'Take time with a wounded hand 'cause it likes to heal
Take time with a wounded hand 'guess I like to steal'

I still tease her about that to this day

AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" were not done dirt cheap to my youthful ears, instead they heard; Dirty Deeds and the Thunder Chief.

My now 22 year old daughter used to sing "Dirty deeds, done ja dee!". And she sang it with such conviction.

Heh.

I just thought of another one; this one in my late teens. Stone Temple Pilots sang their song "Big Empty" with these lyrics. "Time to take her home, Her dizzy head is conscience laden."
I sang it with these lyrics, "Time to take her home, Her dizzy head is gone to sleep."

I once heard a young colleague at work repeatedly belting out
"Showing me, showing you,
There is nothing we can do..."
I was very tempted to ask him what he thought the song was saying.

*snort* That's close to what I thought it was. I still hear "Dirty deeds, dunder jeep". And still sing it that way, lol

One of my favorite Beach Boys songs is Barbara Ann, I used to think they were serenading Barber Ann when I was little. Figured she had to be good at cutting hair, hahaha.

From what I heard, from a very reputable source, many years ago.......

This was supposed to be "in the garden of Eden" but the band was so damn trashed, this is what you got, and everyone loved it.
Go figure.

Pearl jam- yellow led better

Kings of leon- sex on fire

Both are hilarious.

Kallisti

What about Yellow Led Better? Except I can't make any words out of it haha? Any fun intepretations I've missed?

Kind of think that misheard can ruin songs a bit, especially if it is good songs. One example is Hendrix - Purple Haze.

"Excuse me while I kiss the sky" becomes "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" haha

In Walk like and Egyptian by The Bangles where they sing "The cops are hanging around the donut shop" I thought they were saying "All the cops are hanging around Gorbachov" as in the Russian President. D'oh!

And I used to stuff up Take me to the river by Talking Heads.
It's wash me down, not watch me drown. *hangs head in shame*
