KIEV, Ukraine – Dispatching sizable troop reinforcements into Crimea on Monday, Russia consolidated its military control over the southeastern Ukrainian territory and may be preparing for a wider invasion of the country, senior U.S. officials traveling with Secretary of State John Kerry to Kiev, the restive Ukrainian capital, said early Tuesday.

"We still have a very real concern that the Russians have other plans in the Ukraine," said one senior U.S. official, briefing reporters aboard Kerry's official airplane en route from New York to Kiev. "They may be planning other moves."

For the first time since the crisis erupted, senior U.S. officials complained of difficulty tracking Russian troop movements. They said the expected redeployment of Russian security forces following the end of the Olympic Games in Sochi, as well as routine military exercises in the area, had complicated the task of determining how many Russian troops are still pouring into Crimea.

They are just now figuring this out??? Putin does JUDO, the hook is pulling the opponents leg up first, and the leg sweep, swinging it away.

Putin pulled the hook and he is ready for the leg sweep.... Obama better be ready to get kicked on his ass, if he don't counter this..

BLOW UP THE PIPELINES!!

I do hope you are being sarcastic because there is no logical reason for America to get involved with what is going on in the Ukraine. And seeing how the American government is made up with people who sell themselves to the military industrial complex like a whore on a street corner of course they would say we see an invasion. Just like they saw all those WMD's in Iraq. Also if the Ukrainian military did seize power then it would be illegal for America to give them any kind of aid. Because it is illegal to give aid to a country that has been taken over by a military coup.

There are certain people who will remain nameless that state, they actually found WMD's in Iraq that could still be used and were a danger, as i understand those found were actually older than Betty White and more of a danger to the Iraqi who had to launch it..

I am thinking now NATO should put a small force of 100,000 on the Poland Ukrainian border. Not enough or close enough to spark anything off but just enough to create a real physical red line rather that one of Obama imaginary lines.

BLOW UP THE PIPELINES!!

No. No. No.
Just no.

Gas is already up at the pumps, just because of the thought of sanctions on Russia's exports.
This kerfuffle going on right now, is going to cost other countries, besides Russia, economically.

I think Putin needs to get into the rest of Ukraine now before the US get in there placing military support including long range missiles and such covering as a Ukraine def force. Right on Russia's doorstep and a stone throw from some Russian naval bases.
Makes me wonder if this was the plan concocted by the US Gov all along.....

Although seems like a very expensive ordeal (including the recent announced 1billion aid) for a country that is borderline broke.

I see signs the US is warmongering and out of control....to add to those Russian signs of expansion plans.

So who's signs should mean more? Perhaps..and I'm just spit balling here....the other side of the planet, a few hundred miles from Putin's office window..isn't the place for Kerry to be practicing his woefully low skill in policy negotiation?

Because it is illegal to give aid to a country that has been taken over by a military coup.
I remember how that was brought up in relation to Morsi getting taken out, in Egypt, where they had to figure out if it was a military coup or not, so that the US gov. could supply the Egyptian military with aid.
Yesterday I turned on the network evening news sort of at random and there was a representative of the CIA for foreign affairs commenting that Putin has ambitions to take back all the countries from the former Soviet Union and to create some sort of grand empire.
How does he get that from him protecting the naval base that they are already using?
It is just so much fear mongering and incitement of hate for the sake of the US based corporations to move in and take control of the assets and siphon off the country's wealth and impoverishing the common people.

We are blatantly being psy-op'ed by the very gov. that is supposed to be serving us.
Obviously they aren't, and are working for the bankers, meaning the people who drive up the costs of food and fuel as they manipulate the market like their private gambling casino.

Id lol pretty hard if Putin showed up in Kiev with a Balaclava and kidnapped Kerry from his fancy hotel suite at knife point.

Go down in history as pretty much the ultimate crazy king of all time I reckon.

Oh absolutely, I agree. Please Please Please Mr Putin.. Pretty Please..don't kidnap Mr. Kerry. Oh, what would we do? See, we're all busy, broke and struggling...so we wouldn't be able to meet any ransom demand or demands for terms. Alas....You'd be adopting him, not kidnapping him....and.....

Hey.... On second thought...

The only reason I would say I hope this doesn't happen is because of the following actions by our government to retrieve him! We don't need involved, stay out of this dilemma! We are NOT the world police, what Russia does with their military is soley up to THEM, not US!!!

If Kerry was grabbed (wow that sounds wonderful) then we would be at war with Russia and we don't need that....I am not saying I don't want Kerry grabbed for his well-being, just because of what would happen next.

The AGGRESSOR sets the RULES... Russia has been the aggressor, they have been setting the rules.

If the US can't put sanctions on Russia now, DO SOMETHING BUT TALK....

Just my thought here...but perhaps because wars come and go. It's the human condition and we'll be fighting wars over something or another hundreds of years from now, just as we were thousands of years ago. War is the only constant in this picture. Nations (or not), Empires and Causes all change. The activity to settle them sure doesn't.

Still....With a couple notable exceptions, the civilian population comes through for better or worse. Always a few short of what started, but always, coming through to clean up and start again.

Perhaps the fact we aren't dealing with complete insanity here would be 'why not..'. Even Putin and..perhaps Kim in his more lucid moments..actually care about the aftermath (if not afterlife) of needlessly killing millions atop and aside whatever is lost in "necessary" fighting that may yet come.
