The universe is a vast, eternal space where we exist on a small speck of dust, rolling aimlessly through time. The people of our world had no idea of
what was about to arrive... until it was too late to do anything but look on; watching as it happened.
On the battlements of an old fort along the coast of North America, a hundred or so souls gathered, looking out over the ocean where, instead of a
horizon, there was an ever-growing wall of darkness closing upon them. They took their cellphones, snapped a few pictures but, not of what was coming.
They saved a record of those who were there with them; at their side to accompany those last minute notes to loved ones.
A mere few hours earlier, a meteor about a quarter-mile in diameter had impacted in the Atlantic just north of the Azores. Somehow, those in charge of
seeing these things had missed it. The rock was suddenly there and then, it was here.
As the wall of ocean drew closer, the sky was covered as the now light sifted away.
There was nothing left to do but look on and measure each passing moment for what it was.
The sound of keys clicking, final thoughts reaching out...
