Why Everything You've Read About Ukraine Is Wrong
The mainstream American media has taken a nearsighted view of the Ukrainian crisis by following a script laid out by the State Department. Most reports have either ignored the truth or spun it in a way that paints only a partial picture. Here are seven things you should know about Ukraine.
. . . Truth is coming out in the most surprising places.

Im really beginning to wonder if the sanctions are starting to have a larger effect than Russia is letting on maybe thats the reason Putin seems to have changed his mind?
May 23 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Western sanctions imposed on Russia over Ukraine are having a real impact on domestic businesses.
He also told the St Petersburg International Economic Forum that access to funding for many Russian companies has became limited due to the punitive measures.
He added that the United States could be pressing sanctions against Russia to win competitive advantage over Europe.
"Maybe our American friends - they are sophisticated guys - want to get a competitive advantage in their trade and economic relations over Europe," Putin said. (Reporting by Darya Korsunskaya and Maria Kiselyova; writing by Vladimir Soldatkin; Editing by Lidia Kelly)

Speaking of gas there is a meeting in Germany about Ukraine's debt to Russia.
Only few days is left until debt has to be paid and payment made in advance for future deliveries, otherwise no gas.
Will be interesting to see what is going to happen.

If there is one thing the GOP reaffirms about #Ukraine, its they are still are the party of no ideas.
In Mariupol (Donetsk region) Battalion "Ukraine" and special forces "Azov" conducted a successful intelligence operation, which resulted in the law enforcers managed to eliminate terrorists. About it on his Facebook page said lawmaker Oleg Lyashko .
"The terrorists opened fire. Ukrainian patriots began to shoot back. Among the terrorists have killed, approximately five people, among them - one sniper, three terrorists were detained. From our side - there were no injuries. Because the operation was destroyed much of the ammunition of the enemy" - the politician said.

One internet source projects that Putin will let the drama in Eastern Ukraine play out for a month or so and then invade formally to get Eastern region independence.
Makes sense, the separatists defeat the Kiev forces by themselves would be a bonus for Moscow otherwise Russian army is standing by.
Several of the largest oil companies in the world are doubling down in Russia despite moves by the West to isolate Russia and its economy. ExxonMobil and BP separately signed agreements with Rosneft – Russia’s state-owned oil company – to extend and deepen their relationships for energy exploration. The U.S. slapped sanctions on Rosneft’s CEO Igor Sechin in late April, freezing his assets and preventing him from obtaining visas.
However, the sanctions do not extend to Rosneft itself, allowing western companies to continue to do business with the Russian oil giant. ExxonMobil signed an agreement with Rosneft, extending its partnership to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Russia’s pacific coast. Known as the Far East LNG project, the export terminal will receive natural gas from Russia’s eastern fields as well as from Sakhalin-1, an island off Russia’s east coast. Rosneft announced the deal in a press release on its website on May 23.
Or viewed another way, the moves to deepen business in Russia suggest that the world’s biggest oil companies are confident that the U.S. and Europe won’t be so bold as to truly attack Russia’s energy machine.

Absolute rubbish, and wishful thinking on your behalf. Would you like links of a hundred international scources saying the exact opposite? More countries than expected attended. Germany's businesses are falling apart, France ignores sanctions and commit to delivering weapon contracts.Even large American companies attended, ignoring sanctions, Visa, Mastercard etc, to name a few. You have really lost your credibility here now. That is just pitiful. How many hundreds of articles did you read, before finding this one, that you liked. Sad, and desperate.
This article is by Vladimir Golstein, a professor of Slavic studies at Brown University. He was born in Moscow and emigrated to the United States in 1979.
