Upon further investigation, it seems that Yanukovych was constitutionally impeached but that removal proceedings have technically not been completed since the results of an investigation and ruling by the judiciary committee are still due.

But there was a 328-0 vote for impeachment by the Rada (including members of Yanukovych's own party who saw it politically expedient to distance themselves from his apparent criminal activities).

As to whether Yanukovych was forced to flee for his own safety—nobody could deny that there was much popular hatred against Yanukovych in Kyiv after the use of snipers on Maidan which resulted in around a hundred deaths. But the attack upon his former chief of staff, Andriy Klyuyev, after his fleeing and subsequent impeachment is not really proof the President's life was in immediate danger. The President had been in possession of a considerable security staff when he suddenly absconded to Russia after making the 21 February agreement (which is very telling). So Klyuyev was attacked after this Presidential security had left or been disbanded. He only received minor injuries, by the way.

It is very clear that you know nothing first hand of the Euromaidan movement which was composed in majority of everyday Ukrainians. It existed for months and support poured in from all over the country. Old grandmothers knit sweaters for office workers who took leave from their jobs. It was a populist movement not unlike 'occupy wall street' in the States except much more mainstream.

Only a person whose knowledge is drawn solely from Kremlin-controlled media (and in Russia they actually do control the media, it is not just a figure of speech as you use in place of 'perceived bias' as in the west) could characterize this opposition as being 'far right' or 'fascist'.

Consult reports by international human rights organizations or figures on the killings and jailings of journalists in Russia before you label the Euromaidan the repressive threat to Russians.

Euromaidan is an existential threat to Putin's power and this is why he is employing a blanket propaganda of lies, conducting provocations, and armed annexations. Historically this is what fascists do.
