Putin has been making a vocal warning in recent days that "Ukraine is close to the brink of civil war". If you think a country is in such a bad shape that you feel the need to warn others about civil war, I've a hard time believing these new agreements will stand.

Putin will provably follow them, and out of nowhere we will see some sort of disaster - deaths have already been reported in several protests - and then he will have green card to say "see? we told you this wouldn't work out".

While we hear violins coming out of the meeting with Kerry, Putin is loading his guns inside Russia.

pot kettle

not at all..

You made a comment without properly understanding what's going on. You focused solely on action towards Russia while ignoring Russia's actions towards others.

I'm done with letting your comments go when they are in fact wrong and are not supported by any evidence. Anytime you make a post, and the information is incorrect, I am going to respond with the proper information. If you don't like than then may I suggest you stop with the intentional ignorance?

Being Putin's and Lavrov's comments / position are completely opposite, I think Russian participation in the meetings is nothing more than a distraction. So long as the West think they can negotiate their way out of this, the more Russia will use it to complete his goals in Ukraine.

Lavrov is not going to intentionally make statements that contradict Putin's.

The civil war talk is done in the same manner as Russia claiming ethnic Russians were being attacked, resulting in Russia invading Ukraine and illegally occupying Crimea (Which by the way the US/EU said Crimea is still very much involved).

This civil war talk is another effort to try and paint a picture to justify another land grab by Soviet forces under Der Reich's Chancellor Putin.

Somehow this meeting sounds to me as the "friendship" medals that were given to US servicemen by Japan, before the Pearl Harbor attack...

I am gonna stand by my earlier positions.

They will continue destabilization efforts.
There will be an uptick in violence.
Russia will invade.

Everything we are seeing now is nothing but smoke and mirrors. Putin is not going to commit to an action and then go say sorry with his hat in hand.

His Pride and self image that he must be respected by all will prevent him from taking the last exit ramp before hostilities. With the uptick in NATO nations sending military units, including ground forces now it makes me wonder what the public is not being told about Russian forces / plans.

It's provably somewhere in between. I don't think Russia is going to risk a major conflict or even global war at this stage. The initial days of conflict would favor Russia just because of geographic aspects, and because Russia had this planned before anyone could imagine it. But as soon as NATO troops and reinforcements would start to arrive, Russia would have a hard time keeping the conflict going without full-scale war mechanics going on backstage.

I don't think we are going to see parties and celebrations anytime soon neither...

The next flashpoint is going to be around the elections in May, IMO.

Russia's aboutface, they are asking Eastern Ukraine protestors to disarm and vacate the buildings.

www.cnn.com...

The statement -- which appears to be the biggest step toward calming the situation in days -- followed talks lasting several hours between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, his acting Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Deshchytsia and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

No I don't think de escalation is on the cards at all.

Putin is liar.. and Lavrov has to repeat the lies..
Putin will say the right things, while in the background
doing what Putin always does.. He's a KGB Officer of the Soviet Union
always was and always will be.

Plus... he's now got 50 Billion Dollars of personal wealth.

Wait...Actually if i was Russian.. I would be asking who that money actually belongs too.

Not Putin that's for sure.

Well a week ago i would have agreed but as i look into russias financial troubles they are trying to find a way out. Even with Russia denying it the sanctions are hurting Russia bad and this was a limited sanctions they were talking a second round if Russia didnt negotiate. When you finance minister threatens to sue the US in the WTO the sanctions are hurting.

Adding to my post above about APCs going into Kramatorsk and military helicopters landing, now look what RTs saying

RT @RT_com BREAKING: Military operation in #Ukraine southeast to go on despite Geneva agreement - #Kiev on.rt.com/l9688n 5 mins ago 41 retweets |

zerohedge @zerohedge MILITARY OPS. IN S.E. UKRAINE TO GO ON, KIEV SAYS: RT 3 mins ago 11 retweets |

Gabriel Gatehouse @ggatehouse So the Donetsk republicans say they will vacate their buildings if the Maidan lot go home too. That's unlikely. Ukraine 8 mins ago 4 retweets |

Mark MacKinnon @markmackinnon My reading of Ukraine deal is everyone on Maidan has to go home now too. Tough sell. Folks in Donetsk say they'll stay until a referendum. 11 mins ago 2 replies

Looks like deals are broken in seconds nowadays. Starting to lose hope on a diplomatic process.

Yes that place were they held a peaceful vote to join Russia where pensions and wages went up afterwards.

Criminals

They should have taken to the streets with guns, shoot people on their own side so the USA could come in then wait for the IMF to tell everyone to take a 50% pay dock, pensions to be cut by 50%, Gas prices up 100% and kill anyone (name them terrorists first) that does not like our new system.

These votorists need killing on the spot, we should make it the new law so it all LEGAL right !

asen_y2k

I just watched the @RT_Com news and didn't see anyone saying that so it looks like it got lost in translation.

They said that Russia was not happy about NATO war game in the Ukraine that are due to take place later this year

Despite calls for a peaceful dialogue in the document on Ukraine adopted in Geneva, the coup-imposed Ukrainian Foreign Minister said it will not affect the “anti-terrorist” operation in the East of the country and the troops will remain there. Soon after the Geneva document, adopted at a four-side meeting between Ukraine, the US, the EU and Russia, was published, Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister Andrey Deshchytsa said Kiev is not bound by its recommendations. According to Deshchytsa cited by RIA Novosti, “the troops in the East of the country are carrying out a special operation and can remain where they are.”

Sorry man

"BREAKING: Military operation in #Ukraine southeast to go on despite Geneva agreement"

I thought it read as Russian military involvement in the southeast and not the nazi thugs from Kiev

Looks like Russia will be force to rescue all these "Terrorists" in the east before the "Special operations" run the streets red with blood.

These brave (or very stupid) forces that are in an hostile part of the Ukraine won't be in a position to make a fast escape if/when the Russians come across the eastern border and some will defect before they would turn their guns on fellow countrymen/terrorists in the region I thinks but we will see.

I don't blame Ukraine being Lavrov and Putin stated 2 completely opposite positions.

Has anyone been able to confirm that Russia has in fact started telling people in E / S Ukraine to stop and turn in weapons?
