Israel using lasers at point defense

tell me some of those intercepts dont look like some sort of DEW interception

no explosion, the spot burns the metal and campsites that's why its so bright.

they recently released the rolling out of such a system but was said to be not operational, i wonder if some engineers had some sleepless nights.


dont forget IronDome and davids sling and this new laser weapon are all US funded programs where Israel gets to use them and the makers get some real world experience in missile defense

Sounds like Israel is using lasers.

A naval version of the Iron Dome was deployed in 2017, to protect ships and sea-based assets. Israel’s interception systems cost between tens of thousands and millions of dollars to shoot down rockets. The country is currently developing a laser-based system to neutralise rockets and drones at an estimated cost of $2 per interception.

very well could be. back in 2022 the company that is contracted for Iron Beam said they would be deployed in 2 to 3 years and then they said they would be deployed in 2025. wouldn't suprise me that the company went full steam ahead and have sent out some ahead of time.

You can clearly see the interceptor trails in the explosions. Those were intercepted by missiles.

Not enough power in space and no need. The speed of light on Earth pretty much takes anything out and they can power it. The bigger issue is how many times per minute can it be used.
