I started this thread because Tyriffic and I were getting into a discussion about this on another thread and it was way off topic.

Did you know that in 1960, around the time Fidel Castro took power, 37.3 babies in every 1,000 live births died in Cuba? Today, that figure is down to 6.5 per 1,000, comparable with developed nations.

Did you know that Castro was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize?

There's a whole interesting connection between the US and Cuba that is much more sinister on the part of America than appears on the surface.

So they have nice hospitals but no freedom of speech?

Frankly i'd rather have the freedom to think and express myself freely over a small mortality rate.

i gotta agree with him on this one


i think certain freedoms are a tad more important than a lower mortality rate. just means more children will grow up to have no freedoms some of us have our entire lives.
