Hi ATS,

In a short while I am going wild camping in the Dumfries And Galloway Forest Park.

The UK’s First Dark Sky Park
Forestry Commission Scotland has established part of Galloway Forest Park as the first Dark Sky Park in the UK. Announced on 16th November 2009 in the International Year of Astronomy, it is a massive achievement for the UK and the south West of Scotland.

Theres a small group of us going to camp out and do some stargazing

and some beer drinking

So now my question, is there a dark sky awarded area near you?

Have you ever been?

I am really excited to have a night just looking at the sky with friends, feels like it has been years, if the kids lucky she can come too.
These images are from google, though they were taken at Galloway Forest Park.

Sounds like a plan. Those pics look exactly like the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. 1,000,000 acres of nothing but lakes and wilderness. It's amazing what you can see when so far away from the lights.
