CeNSE - (Central Nervous System for the Earth)

The nervous system is the part of an animal's body that coordinates its voluntary and involuntary actions and transmits signals between different parts of its body

HP Labs has joined the race to build an infrastructure for the emerging Internet of Things. The giant computing and IT services company has announced a project that aims to be a "Central Nervous System for the Earth" (CeNSE). It's a research and development program to build a planet-wide sensing network, using billions of "tiny, cheap, tough and exquisitely sensitive detectors." readwrite.com...=~ow3PgUUjyQqCr2

CeNSE’s first applications will make living on the planet safer and more convenient. But as the network grows, the breadth and detail of information it gathers could be critical to Earth’s survival, says Hartwell.
Gotta love the spin they use, in order for us to buy into their population control agenda. Its always for "safety" and "convenience" or to "better our lives."

“If we’re going to save the planet, we’ve got to monitor it,” says Hartwell. “We have to understand how we’re impacting the planet,” he says, pointing out that we don’t understand how wind farms may affect rainfall or how a cooling sea changes wind currents. Hartwell imagines people volunteering their sensors to feed data to climate change models, just as unused compute cycles are unfolding proteins and unraveling genomes today
If we're going to save the planet??? hahahaha Sounds like they've been watching too much television. Did they mention climate change? Riiiiiight!

On an individual level, sensing could help people make everyday lifestyle changes: “We have to use this capability to figure out how to change the way we do things: You can tell the kids to turn off the lights, but it’s going to be a lot more effective if the lights turn themselves off.”
Lights that turn themselves off? Anyway....

How are they going to implement this technology?
Smart Dust

“Smart Dust” is an emerging technology made up from tiny sensors or “motes”. Eventually, these devices will be smart enough to talk with other sensors yet small enough to fit on the head of a pin. Each mote is a tiny computer with a power supply, one more sensors and communications systems (HSU,Kahn and Pister 1998.)

Here's some info, on another famous computer company. IBM's start-up history.
IBM and the Holocaust

IBM and the Holocaust is the stunning story of IBM's strategic alliance with Nazi Germany -- beginning in 1933 in the first weeks that Hitler came to power and continuing well into World War II. As the Third Reich embarked upon its plan of conquest and genocide, IBM and its subsidiaries helped create enabling technologies, step-by-step, from the identification and cataloging programs of the 1930s to the selections of the 1940s.

Here's more science fiction to ponder.
All the files were deleted? LMFAO. Where have i heard that story before?

The people, aka "scientists", in this video, sound like a bunch of crazed-lunatics; trying to play God. Can't wait to see what the next 25 years looks like.

Isn't that "Smart Dust" the basis for the NBC series "Revolution"?

Nanites everywhere.

Good thread. Now off to watch the vids posted.

LOL Always makes me laugh when I hear that.

The planet will be just fine. Its us ordinary folk that need saving...from those OTHER lying (snip) scumbags.

Unfortunately, no one seems to care.
