I enjoy the beach. I enjoy snorkeling. I enjoy watersports. I have an interest in scuba. I have 3 kids. I'm not rich.

Where would you recommend I go?
If you have traveled, is it better/cheaper to rent a place or go all-inclusive?
Any luck renting cars for cheap?
Do you know an out of the way place that isn't too touristy?
Do you have a dream place that you want to go to and would share your knowledge on it with me?

I have been to the Turks and Caicos and am going to Progresso (Mexico) in the spring for 3 weeks.

Any information would be very helpful and appreciated. This also goes for members from the Caribbean area.

I've been to the Rockies and have lived not too far from them, too cold. I want to vacation in a warm spot.
Although I have never seen the Grand Canyon.

What doesn't costa ton of money? Do you live near a river delta? I know on the west coast the Sacramento river delta has 800 miles of channel roads. You can park and camp most anywhere on the bank for free. Build fires, shoot in the water, fish, launch boats. NObody cares.

I have done, and love, camping. I go once a year now for 2-3 weeks in a tent to get away. I'm talking about a vacation somewhere warm, just like I listed above. Thanks!

I am 30 Minutes East of Sacramento. Skip Sacramento! Not that warm this time of the year and the Delta is mediocre at best. Other than Florida this time of the year there is nowhere else to go besides SoCal if you want to enjoy any warmth.

Catalina has great snorkeling (will need a wetsuit) right from the beach at the casino in Avalon there is a gorgeous dive/snorkel park. You can camp or stay on Catalina fairly cheap and the ferry over will cost about 30.00ea. if I remember right. There are nearly no people on the island and one can hike or find a remote beach on any given day.

I hate Florida.

Phoenix is nice this time of the year. You could take a day trip to the Grand Canyon. L.A. and San Diego are only about 400 miles, a bit far for a day trip but not bad if you spend a night or two.

I mention Phoenix because it's a lot cheaper than Cali. If you haven't been there I would pick San Diego over L.A. for a visit.

New Zealand. Walk the Lord Of The RIngs trail to Mordor and climb Mt Doom.

But remember, one does not simply vacation in Mordor.

I'm in Miami.

You can probably find some nice places to go on the west coast of florida.
You can do a lot of beachy stuff over there.

If you want more scuba underwater type stuff to do. you might want to look at the florida keys.

Have a fun trip where ever you go.

www.cnn.com...

Here's some good kind of not as well know beaches/areas.

Also if you're into backpacking and swimming, not necessarily snorkeling there are some beautiful state parks in many states. Texas has some beautiful ones.

Also one thing you might consider if you're low on the dough is to go on a cruise.

Certain times of the year you can pick up tickets for like 250 a person for seven nights. At that point you get to travel to various countries with beautiful beaches. Just an idea.

Also keep in mind, if it is you and your wife...or you alone...the way the rates work on cruises is that the 1st and 2nd ticket is full-price and the 3rd and 4th berth is half-price so it's not as expensive with large families.

If I go to New Zealand, I am never coming back to Canada.

My wife just left today to go on a cruise leaving from Miami! I would take a cruise from Vancouver to New Zealand in a heartbeat!

Go to the Bay Islands in Hondurus or to Belize, where they have the great blue hole. Both places are meant to be great for diving and are pretty cheap.

I remember watching a TV show about the blue holes in the world. I wonder what is at the bottom or if they just connect out to the ocean? Anyways, those would be great places to visit. I've always considered Roatan as they have world class snorkeling.
