Well, I think this is the moment Isreal was waiting for. Isreal will never attack Iran. Why would they? They have us to do their dirty work.

It is so sad that many comments are made here are out of ignorance.

I am glad that there are intelligent people on here trying to enlighten them.

Not unlike Tony Blair's "45 minutes from WMD's".

I guess the US admin would need something as big as another war to distract the public from the crap that is hitting the fan there at the moment.

I just feel sorry for all citizens involved.

CX.

You feel sorry for them?

What about us? Camroon and all the other smug gits in charge of the uk will make sure we wont sit this one out
cant miss the next biggest war since vietnam o no!

Who says I want to appease dictators?

I don't, but if you believe that Obama would actually go to war with Iran ... you think he's a far braver man or one far less ideologically motivated than I believe him to be.

Right now, I don't think it matters what Iran intends to do with its nuclear programs because Obama is going to give them the latitude to do it.

I have a question. Would Russia not intervene if an attack was to be announced?
Surely, Puttin would not stand by and watch. If he felt that strongly about Syria, what will his reaction be if Iran was the target this time?

Hence why this is the WWIII thread.

Again, I don't think Obama has the stones to go into Iran unless he really does want to provoke WWIII. Either that or he's just plain stupid enough to think that Russia isn't serious.

The prolbem of staring WWIII relies not on the politics but banksters and corporations.
Look back on history, almost every war was for resources and profit started by greed or hate.

Humans didn't change, nuke or convectional, sooner or later war is coming !

for those who think longer than the next need, here something that let you think and maybe realize WHY the world like it is, is going to change in less than 50 years. I hope peacefully...

Didn't Obama state in his meeting with Bibi, that aggressive action is still on the table if need be?

If his (Obama) strings are pulled more vigorously, don't you think he has to step up to the plate and put his money where his mouth is? I don't think its a matter of stones, more of, no more embarrassment for him or his administration. Am I wrong in making that assumption?

I think Russia would very actively support Iran in the form of weapons and equipment....but Iran wouldn't want Russian forces in their country any more than American ones, I'm betting. Not directly. They don't really need it anyway. The Russian ports are just a short boat ride up the Caspian Sea from the Iranian ports just north of Tehran.

They're so close, if the US does take action at some point with air power, they'll have to force themselves to ignore the forest of acquisition and tracking radars just north and, I'm sure, ready to watch everything with a front row seat. After all, anything in far Northern Iran, where Tehran and everything else is, should be close enough to actually be within Russian home defense radar coverage.

I think Russia would very actively support Iran in the form of weapons and equipment.

And in doing so, would need to provide escort ships. The Russian Caspian Sea fleet escorting Russian ships in and out of port might just decide an incoming missile / aircraft is hostile and shoot it down. Then they may just put their latest and greatest anti air defense systems in the port to 'protect our assets.' Those assets could include the whole of Tehran.

Russia will be drawn in slowly or very quickly. This is Putin we are talking about, decisions will be made quickly and he will not pander to the west. After all, the west is taking over everything around Russia. If you have to fight, it is a good idea to do it on someone elses front lawn rather than have your own messed up.

Yeah, you're right.... As much as you and I both have spent time looking at the S-300 systems and how they may or may not stack up against American or other Western systems, it's older tech. That neck of the woods though...Hmmm..

That would be the S-500 on Russian Soil and out around it. Northern Iran is within that for the range. I don't think any American Pilot would actually want to test the odds on either the 400 or 500. Russia's certainly no slouch in a few areas they really care about. That's sure one of them, eh?

I can see the S500 in Russia and on the warships just waiting for the pilot that makes a wrong turn and the S400 in Northern Iran 'protecting Russian Assets'.

Russia’s Caspian Sea fleet will get 16 new warships by 2020, the Russian Navy Commander Vladimir Vysotsky has said. It is also planned to deploy coastal missile systems in the area. Speaking at a session of the Russian government's Maritime Board on Wednesday, Vysotsky said that the military flotilla based on the Caspian Sea will be provided with “at least 16” new ships by 2020, reports Interfax. In this year alone, the unit will receive the missile carrying boats “Tatarstan” and “Volgodonsk”, as well as three assault ships. It is also planned to extend piers at the port of Dagestan’s capital, Makhachkala. This way the fleet will be made up of two units: one based in Makhachkala and the other one in Astrakhan – a port city on the Volga River delta. In addition, the Russian Navy is to deploy new coastal missile units and aviation groups in this strategically-important and oil-rich region of the country.

From rt.com

You do not go to this much trouble unless you have a reason. As you have said, notice the increase in coastal missile units. Remember also, I think Russia can fire coastal defense missiles under control of its new warships.

The US will take some damage if they want to go in there.

I hate to say this but I think the US has to start a war. A big one too. Thats how it plans to cover it debts.

With its extreme debt the only was to pay it off like after the great depression/WW2 is to increase economic growth. The other altenative is cuts and austerity measures and the USA doesnt seem to want to look at that so the 1st seems on the table.

Well the biggest growth secter and only real manufactureing left in the USA is weapons. A nice war with Iran would bring in a few trillion $$$ as the allies that will jump on the war wagon (UK, France, Isreal, Saudi arabia ect) will be buying US arms like crazy along with any partasian groups. Hell why do you think the US govemnet is tripping over it self to arm syrian rebels? Not the goodness of there heart but pure $$$$$$.

Plus if they can kick the behive enough they may get into a situation were a draft has to come in, which Washington would LOVE I mean what better way to reduce the wellfare bill than to send the poor and unemployed off to die as cannon fodder? A very cheap way to imporve the unemployment problem.

Even if the USA loses in Iran it "wins". I mean there is no one able to actually attack the mainland so whats the risk? Win or loss it will make its money and if it loses the worse that can happen is Isreal gets blown up, the fat cats in DC are not at risk.
