I now know that whenever I have to fly, I will never fly through this airport...I will catch a bus to this city...and out...come to think of it, I will never go to this city...a couple of million passengers not alighting the city would be disasterous for staff and owners of the airport and airlines, not to mention the trade dollars that would not come in. A couple of years of this and very quickly it would be a ghost town/city...that would never happen, of course...

What can confidently be said, is that, it wasn't some unemployed ideas man/woman, that dreamt up the solution to a 'security' problem...no, it was probably some illuminated, million dollar a year security executive with brain of a 3 year old, that proposed the banning of words, as a solution.

The solution of banning words is a straight-up admission...that they have no idea what they are doing for that million dollars a year.

It just says "security". It most likely means don't make jokes about bombs or hijacking. That has been the standard for at least 20 years. You all are reading too much into things again.

Reading too much in, is probably right...nevertheless, bypassing that retarded form of security is quite easy...replacing any words likely to pique the interest of these 'security' luminaries is a no-brainer...for example...explosive device = boarding pass...
The strategy to ban words is wholly infantile, misdirected and sloppy...and does not pass for intelligence, in any sense of the word.

No battle, friend

...20 years, 10 years...however long this joke of a strategy has been going on, sanctioning/profiling based on words is a pretty medieval concept and reeks of the 'no clue' gene...surely they could concentrate on performing SECURITY instead of crying about whether they're being joked at, tying thier time up arresting people because they are joking, while the target of thier job walks past them smiling about whether they have thier BOARDING PASS in thier bag (see above)...

The english language conservatively has (because it isn't a fine art) one million words...what purpose does stopping people using any word, as a substitute for a banned word in a coded fashion? Nix...all that's been done is you stop people using certain words in airports - brilliant idea Einsteins!...cos I feel so much safer when they don't use those words...ya know...and the other thing is it stops those damned terrorists...not...

With respect

Which city is extremely leftist? Was it Austin or Huston? I thought Huston was the far-right city and Austin the far-left? I'm pretty shocked that this happened at that airport. But then again, not that shock, considering it was during the Bush admin that the whole "I'm gonna check your anus for explosives" thing came to be.

I think at any airport it should be fair to say you shouldn't joke about bombing anything or whipping out a gun or something because that's both not a funny joke and two, insensitive to real terrorists. I mean, they have feelings too, sorta.

But joking about their security, or even watching that southpark episode could arguably get you arrested? Hah, pull another one... Socialism is steadily rising in this country. Sadly, I think the majority of the citizens are fine with that.

So basically if I say " at least you could have bought me a drink first", I could be arrested for being in possession of a deadly joke ?

This is about more than 'bomb/weapon' jokes - which are not funny. It is protecting the fiddlers from nervous humor from the mouths of embarrassed customers - being publicly humiliated.

Bend over and repeat after me ....
