Yea this article was certainly written with its readers in mind.

We need to keep an eye on both parties here. I believe that what the op was referring to when he included the "right" in the title.

Who and How they Voted on Patriot Act Extension

You it was written to appease the people that believe it. Yes Obama did pass the extension on the Patriot act but if Bush hadn't passed it then it wouldn't need an extension.

Buster, the point is that they didn't have to extend it. They could have gutted it of trashed it out. By extending it Obama owned it as well as anybody.

Surely one of the reasons there is such a growing police state, is the same reason America has the biggest military in the world, bigger than all other nations on the earth combined. The military industrial complex. The very same people who are now supplying your Police departments with hard wear and security apparatus.

Indeed, I make no excuses for either of the mainstream political parties in the culmination of the modern police state. I would hope that most of the people in our military are just as shocked and appalled at the distribution of milspec arms, equipment and training to domestic law enforcement.

The reason I attribute special credit to Obama is his expressed desire for a "civilian national security force" equal to the military.

A one-size-fits-all government is naturally going to be a "forced fit" for a lot of people. The global agenda already has that in mind. Our overlords aren't going to allow us to tailor our community standards. We now are expected to conform to a demanding society.

The concept of "community" is just not expedient any more. It will no longer be allowed in the new order.

I have confidence that we have peaceful and effective mechanisms to reverse the damage already done and to walk back the tide of authoritarianism.

I believe that the supporters of the police state will come around when they begin to recognize the realities and set aside their idealistic desires in favor of freedom and liberty.

Very nice thread,GC.

And yes both sides have done their part to push the Police State.

The byproduct is Tyrany without any complaints by the public.

Some people are still stuck on blaming Bush for our problems of today. Sure, he might have laid the foundation but Obama could have done away with it. He didn't. Now we have personal kill lists that the President has no problems using.

Sad.

Our police-state is the love child between democrats and republicans married in the Holy Church of the Progressive.

This offspring makes Rosemary's Baby look like Cupid.

Left and Right are frequently interpreted as Communism on the Far Left, and Fascism on the Far Right.
That is incorrect and confuses many.

On an honest political spectrum, the Far Left is State Control of Everything--the Police States of Socialism and Communism, and Fascism. The Far Right is no government at all--anarchy. The middle ground is a Republic of Laws and Rights which the State may not usurp.

I agree, I had put up a thread which attempts to explain here:
