you can opt out....grow a set, and simply option out of it, the filter sets up as the default. maybe parents don't want 9 year olds looking at German porn

Maybe I donm't want your 9 year olds on my german porn site? How about you look after your 9 year old brats who are making adults pay for YOUR inability to control them?

How about you be a parent and sto pmaking the rest of an entire continent be a defacto parent for you?

How about you filter your own internet? That's opt IN. How about you stop having kids if you can't be arsed looking after them.

How about we let the government come along and put locks on your front door that you can ask them nicely to remove. You don't want your 9 year olds running out into oncoming traffic do you? Locks on the door, from the outside, that you can ask nicely to remove. But then, why would you want to remove those locks? Youw ant your 9 year olds on the street at midnight?

Some sort of problem in your house, you want your kids playing on busy roads... you need locks on the door.

blah blah blah... In a world without chains, everyone is a slave owner...

i really hope some of those that made comments here are too young to vote.

i have never seen a campaign with so many lies.

no wonder the nigerian scammer love australians so much..some of you pelicans would believe anything.

The Liberals proposal of a Internet Filter (regardless of any technicalities, opt-out or whatever double-speak that comes from the professional liars of the political trade) disenfranchises us voters the power to choose where and how we conduct ourselves (within existing laws of course).

Which thread was this?

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I was talking about posters arguing and debating whether its parents who should take responsibility or just pass it on the government to "protect" their children.

The second post of your thread was on the same lines as the second post in that thread and from there it was a war of opinions.

I am on a site where we should be against Government and yet all the Aussies are telling who they will vote for,

To go vote when the government decides is simply a roll call for those enrolled.

Ones who don't show up get detention, ( a $50 fine). You don't show up for detention(pay your fine) then what, receive letter after letter until?

Can you dis enroll, is that an option or must you go to roll call every time they decide you must?

Why do so many still go to school and learn absolutely nothing.

I stopped going when the joke stopped being funny.

That was before I could I vote, but the lies I remember from some of the supposed great leaders who still today is giving advice and resolving issues for the kids running the game now is when it stopped being funny.

I voted for a decade or so but in recent elections I feel as though if I am to put aside some of my time on a day that the government need to pay me for it, they take my taxes so they can give me $20 for the day that I have to go to a local high school to get my name marked of the list so I don't get detention.

However, IF they should enforce such a thing they should start with the television! Young children, still in their prams, are subjected to a never ending stream of swearing, screaming, fighting, violence, and sex, and thats just the soaps!

Start with the TV. No sex or violence until after 10pm. Then maybe we might be able to raise kids who's minds havent been conditioned to seek out violence and sex.

I take it you don't have kids. Kids in prams are usually in bed by 7.30!

This is optional! It is a good idea for parents with kids! Opt out - it is an option!

Wrong, I now have grandchildren

Most parents these days have grown up with their tv running in the background, and many of them dont have the sense to remove their children from the tv, in fact many use it to passify there kids! Wrong I know but thats the reality.

Opt out - it is an option!
Shouldn't it be the otherway around? Those who want to be filtered should choose to opt-in!

If you read the thread it seems that is what is intended, ie, Opt in rather than opt out.

I really can't seem to see much of a difference.

A large part of the problem is that modern society is all about MY RIGHTS.

It seems many do not like a bit of simple responsibility to go with those rights.

It is not hard, man!

I was watching him answer this question on the ABC news this evening and it appears he's done a backflip. ( shock - horror )

He is suggesting some confusion between "opt in" and "opt out".

His current position is one of "opt in" and he goes as far as saying it would be impossible to censor the internet as the previous govt. explored this and abandoned the idea due to its 'impossibility' !

Ya, smoke, mirrors and loads of bullhockey all around ...

Ha go check with the Chinese and North Koreans and they will tell censorship happens everyday in their countries. Lol, man and people are complaining about america lol. I hope this doesn't happen to our friends down under.

Censorship is bad in my view, take north Korea, these people don't have life. Everything force fed them, they can't raise themselves up, knowledge is power. You don't think so, a whole society, the majority of the people there no little of the rest of the world other than we are bad and they hate us.

Saw an interview of young man that was born and raised in prison there, he had no concept of anything. I wish my memory was better, maybe someone to else saw that show, yes censorship and knowledge or lack thereof can be a terrible weapon.

Fair enough, I'd assumed it was the same as is happening in the uk, where we'd have to go online and register as someone who wants to view porn!
At my age I have zero interest in porn, but I really dont see why someone should have to disclose such information about themselves. Much fairer if those who dont want to view it should opt out.

I agree totally. But unfortunately that doesn't help those poor kids who have such parents.

I'm done with the clowns that make up both major parties. I'm voting Pirate Party and Julian Assange, not because I think they'll win but because they are the best of the choices given to me.

I'm voting Pirate Party because I wanna wear a puffy shirt and an eyepatch arrrrr...

I have kids.

What I do is PARENT them. When they are on the internet they are monitored, as parents should be doing, not allowing the gubment to do it for us.

People who don't parent their kids and allow crap like this be their excuse not to is the problem, not the other way around.

This is what happens when an election is going to be walkover. This is the danger of elections where one wing of the bird-of-prey knows they are going to win. These kinds of NWO things get sliped in.

I dot know, there are more marginal (held by < 3%) seats held by the coalition than by labour (17 to 10 by my count). To claim its a coalition shoe in is premature in IHMO

There won't be any filter unless Abbort and his cronies want their entire life's secrets spilled over the Internet. Julian and Anonymous will see to it, I assure you.
