I put this here in Cryptology rather than Fragile Earth.

My question to you is exactly what the Header says?

www.wired.com...

Something in the Peruvian Amazon is making weird, intricate structures that resemble white picket fences surrounding an Isengard-like spire. No one has any idea who the mysterious craftsbug (fungus? spider?) is, or what the structure is even used for, excepting the fence part, which almost makes sense. Nobody, not even the scientists. We asked.

What say you ATS. Alien Ant Farm?

I see a fence, a tower, an Egg sack?

It might be a farm? to keep pray until the eggs hatch?
I might be to protect the eggs?

Def intelligent design, my first thought was those moon structures lol.

I'd say the idea of it being an egg container sound the most feasible to me. That or they are tiny communication towers. They're phoning home.

its the nerve center of the ant colony if you destroy it the entire earth will be sucked into it and it will cause the entire universe to mildly shake.

I'm pretty sure it's a spider nest. In fact I would put money on it.

I've had something that looks almost exactly like that show up on my screens in Florida. It might be a type of fungus if not being made by insects. It was years ago, but I know I took pictures of them. If I can find them again, I'll post them up later.

It will be interesting to see the type of spiders that hatch. Very unique way to bring young in, provides protection by also a trap for prey when the little ones hatch. At least that is my theory lol.

Very kewl.

Could be a moth cocoon. Here's a moth cocoon in North Carolina that has similar concentric rings. They've got those basket weaving moths on that very same island so it could be something like that.

Maybe a off shoot of the species? Or mutation?

Guys, never heard of Occam's razor?...
...This is CLEARLY a structure made by the little people...DUH...

They seriously weren't able to take a sample of it to analyze the DNA? That could solve the case...Probably the work of a spider though.

It really is amazing how much it looks like a fence.
So, are they coping us, or did we copy them?

Nature, never ceasing to surprise and amaze us.
