Hey everyone, this is my first post here, and admittedly, it's going to come off as slightly crazy, I'm sure.

The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies of all time. I've probably seen it fifty or more times over the last 20 years or so. As many of you know, there is a theory that in one scene, a munchkin/crew member hangs himself and it is on film in the background.

Like I said, I've seen this movie a million times. And I distinctly remember seeing this in the background during the scene right after the trees are throwing apples and the witch appears. Dorothy and the Tin Man are standing in the woods and its pretty apparent right behind them.

However, tonight I googled the scene and every video I watched shows it happening as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man are skipping down the road singing "We're Off to See the Wizard"... This seems SO off to me. This is not the way I remember it.

Anyone else feel like this is wrong?

Slightly crazy is more than welcome here
But watching 'The wizard of Oz ' 50 odd times
Your really pushing the envelope

As far as the munchkin necking himself ,never heard of that but i guess it was during the depression and all that damn singing and dancing may have pushed him over the edge and knowing that he would never get a chance with Glinda ,i can see it happening

Haha. No joke. I'm 27 and I wore out at least two VHS tapes of it when I was younger. Admittedly, I was not looking for the "hanging man" during these years, but I've probably watched it ten times or so since finding out about it years ago.

Definitely creepy. In some versions it's replaced by a bird. However, this isn't how I remember it. I might be crazy, ha.

The "hanged" individual is nothing but a bird, and it shows up as described in the OP.

I was definitely watching a VHS version tonight, which prompted this.

I honestly have no idea what my obsession was and why I decided to watch it tonight. Nostalgia?

Did anyone notice the crucifix on the other side of the road in that shot of the hanging munchkin?

I believe there are so many mixed messages in that film, one of my favorites - "poppies will make you sleep,"

white snow will wake you up.

Yeah sometimes it's replaced with the bird. I think in later VHS tapes and all the DVDs. I just don't remember it happening in that part? Guess I'm alone on that!

I remember the hanging man being in the part where they're skipping down the yellow brick road. If you're right that means you came to this timeline and not us to yours
