You just stated the very reason you shouldn't be glad you bought a reloader for your .223, 30-06 and shotgun... You will not be able to reload your own ammo now.

They've got you all by the yarbles. You can have your guns, but there is no ammo, and you can not reload your own now with out a special license.

I expect if they deem your activity "manufacturing" there will be additional licensing fees, regulations and taxes as you are producing a product capable of sale.

This is crazy. At the very least, if you have passed background checks to buy a gun, and you have a license/permit whatever (I don't own a gun so not clear on the jargon) you should be given the ability to reload your ammo.

Why are they calling it manufacturing when, in reality, you are reconditioning the bullet to working order. I don't need permits to change out my windows on my home that I own, provided I am reconditioning it or replacing it with an exact size and do not change the opening size in the framing. Here, you OWN a gun and are simply restoring the bullets. You already had the powder in the bullets to begin with, you're just replacing it.

What's worse is the background checks are probably going to be required with every purchase, so say you buy supplies and then a year down the road, you go see a psychiatrist or something or a dr about depression. They check medical records (Once the gov't provides you the medical services, they may have access to things) they find out you are on depression meds.... supplies DENIED. Then, the fun stuff, they come knocking for your guns and take them pending an evaluation of some sort.....

That seems like where it's headed... STOCK UP NOW!!!!!

So you have the right to bear arms but not to fire them????

And even if other materials were made more difficult to access, it would be rather difficult to stop people from learning chemistry or obtaining more raw natural sources like eggs (sulfur) and bird poo (nitrates).

And that's the perfect excuse for the government to ban anyone from raising chickens. Just wait, it's coming.

You missed this part
www.govtrack.us...

"8% chance of getting past committee.
2% chance of being enacted."

Did anyone actually read the current law they are referring to??
which is here:
www.law.cornell.edu...

the proposed changes:
(4) in section 845(a)--

(A) in paragraph (4), by inserting after ‘and components thereof’ the following: ‘, except for smokeless powder and black powder substitutes’; and

(B) in paragraph (5), by striking ‘black powder in quantities not to exceed fifty pounds,’.

www.govtrack.us...
18 USC § 845 - Exceptions; relief from disabilities:

(5) commercially manufactured black powder in quantities not to exceed fifty pounds, percussion caps, safety and pyrotechnic fuses, quills, quick and slow matches, and friction primers, intended to be used solely for sporting, recreational, or cultural purposes in antique firearms as defined in section 921 (a)(16) of title 18 of the United States Code, or in antique devices as exempted from the term “destructive device” in section 921 (a)(4) of title 18 of the United States Code;

What the bill is proposing is if you are a known felon you can't get black powder.
It doesn't ban people from buying black powder and you don't need a licence unless you want to buy 50 pounds or more.

By adding smokeless powder to the list of explosive materials, this will effectively limit the quantities of smokeless powder that may be in transit to and stored at retail outlets at any given time. Expect shortages of your favorite powders at your retail outlet.

Smokeless powders have always been considered to be propellants rather than explosives, therefore legal to ship in much larger quantities than black powder, which is considered an explosive.

(note for non-reloaders) The difference between explosive and propellant is in the speed of combustion in open air. Black powder burns very rapidly whether in contained or open space. Smokeless powder must be contained in order to build pressure first before burning rapidly.

It's fairly difficult to figure these bills out unless you do a side by side comparison of before and after.

Sec. 845. Exceptions; relief from disabilities

(a) Except in the case of subsection (l), (m), (n), or (o) of
section 842 and subsections (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), and (i) of
section 844 of this title, this chapter shall not apply to:
...
(4) small arms ammunition and components thereof; except for smokeless powder and black powder substitutes’; and
(5) commercially manufactured black powder in quantities not to
exceed fifty pounds
, percussion caps, safety and pyrotechnic
fuses, quills, quick and slow matches, and friction primers,
intended to be used solely for sporting, recreational, or
cultural purposes in antique firearms as defined in section
921(a)(16) of title 18 of the United States Code, or in antique
devices as exempted from the term "destructive device" in section
921(a)(4) of title 18 of the United States Code;

Italics indicate proposed addition to law. Strike out indicates proposed removal.

The effect is to add smokeless powder as an explosive, and remove the exemption of black powder in any quantity for sporting and recreational use. So as the OP said, you'll need the attorney general's permission to buy that 1 pound of Red Dot smokeless powder to make up your favorite target load.

The way I see this is the socialist/communist think they have done there home work and think all we are doing is talking about it. Once again there mindset is a total fail.

The bottom line is most people have all they need to do what ever they want except possibly a lot of target practice. Any more then that and when you win a fight you take what you need, you can only carry so much. Those that are going to fight off the hoards at home are well equipped if what I have seen means anything.

The morons in charge of all the new laws are a little to late even though they have done a good job making a lot of redundant laws and making the ammo manufactures rich..........................but what do you expect from socialist/communist, nothing they do ever lasts very long, its a total fail as a mindset, the one thing that has held true through out history is that they are "idiots" and will fail.

I'd like to see them ban H2O.

bans on materials is not going to stop people from killing others.

With the right knowledge you can make mustard gas from cleaning products under your sink. So are we going to ban chlorine and drain-o now?

So we just shouldn't even try? We shouldn't have a law that says you can't use mustard gas on your neighbor...because you'd just do it anyways?

Not to mention this doesn't even seem to be a ban of any sorts.

It's just a license. Got a problem with driver's licenses, or fishing licenses?

But a license for handling explosive materials?0?! outrageous!

I feel like most of you are just looking for things to get pissed off about.

You WILL be seeing that in not too long. Not banning, but regulating fresh, drinkable water. THAT will be the final nail in our coffins. Don't believe me? Read around. Follow the news stories where home owners can no longer use a rain barrel to catch water and the billionaires buying land for the water rights.

Sure they are taking the ammo and stopping reloading. Is anyone surprised? The Obama administration doesn't care or believe in fair or legal. They do what they want like any liberal. And the end game is them having complete and unquestioned control of all of us and all our property. So to all of you who voted for Obama, who got us Pelosi and the rest of them. Thanks! You have sealed the end of freedom.

I'll be long dead. But my children won't.

How can you say "It's just a license" and not realize that with every license you are losing a little more liberty and paying another tax?

I'm not looking for yet another reason to be angry, I was upset earlier, about 25yrs ago, that people had to get driver's licenses and so forth. I accept it now but back when I had gotten my first driver's license, my dad asked me "how's it feel to have some new freedom?" I said to him, I was actually freer on my bicycle because having a license is giving the State/Gov't power over me, forcing me to carry insurance and ID wherever I go and threatening me with the loss of license or fines for being caught doing something. That didn't sound like freedom gained, to me.

The emotional manipulation is constant.
If we do not revolt, we are doomed....theres no longer any choice.

Owning more than one tactical kitchen knive will become a federal offence, especially those with black handles and serrated edges Who need more than one large knife in a house anyway?

Coal dust and flour can create explosions. Not forgetting mixing various household cleaners, petrol or medicinal alcohol and vinegar.

This is how politicians have always acted over the past 50 years. Every time some dumb terrorist try something, "security procedures are reviewed and tightened". First X-raying luggage, then pat-down and metal detectors, then backscatter X-rays. It'll continue down to full body-cavity searches and strip downs.

Gasoline is actually pretty stable, it's not even flammable. How ever the vapors it gives off on the other hand is quite the opposite.

You should probably stop typing before you make yourself look stupider than you just did...You actually just typed that gasoline is not FLAMMABLE!!!!!!

I said "just" in response to people calling it a ban. The context was abundantly clear and youre taking that out of context.

You know what, I agree with what you're saying. But there are certain things where it's okay to require a license. Explosives falls in that certain category.

I think thats true of anything flammable. From what i understand solids dont burn, they heat up until they give off vapors and the vapors burn. Thats why a flame is always slightly above whatever is burning.

you know things are becoming B.S. here in the united states. hey lets take away every thing that can cause harm if not used properly. its getting to the point that any other gun pro country ( if there are any left ) would sound better than continuing to live here. land of the free my @xx more like land of regulations and over barring laws that infringe on your personal rights.
