42% don't know it's law and the other 58% don't care because they all know if it isn't repealed, struck down or rendered void because it violates the origination clause in the Constitution then it will bankrupt the country a few years down the road leading to civil unrest and panic and then nobody will need medical care anyway.

There can not just be a full repeal...something has to replace it. Republicans can't run on simply a platform of "repeal"...they tried that and they lost.

[SNIP]

If you have another option...let's hear it.

Couple issues there...
1. The Republican who ran on the repeal platform and lost also had the stigma of having been responsible for passing a law similar to Obamacare in MA. I don't think all of us were confident in his dedication to repealing the law.
2. Again, as more Americans realize election have consequences they will (hopefully) begin to also start using their brain inside the voting booth. That may be high hopes, considering the majority of Americans have recently demonstrated a serious lack of brain activity when voting... but hey, now that consequences are beginning to reveal themselves, anything is possible.
3. You've heard my option, repeal it. That you consider the option to be untennable doesn't really change the fact that it is a viable option and is the most uniformly fair option out there. Certainly continuing down this path of expecting the haves to fully support the have nots isn't going to float forever.

I knew that it was no longer still on its way to becoming official. I'm sure the whole populace will know of its existence when it actually comes into effect.

The biggest downside to Obamacare that I've read is the added tax, which I thought was exempted from people who have a certain income level and number of people in their household. Plus, there's the fear that treatment will become slow and sub-par, despite the evidence in other countries varying as widely in quality as the system already in place here.

Despite those things, there will always be an undercurrent of something that has haunted me for years: the words "pre-existing condition." I don't care if Obamacare's solution to it isn't perfect, something is better than outright rejection of a current medical condition in favor of ludicrously expensive insurance against massive accidents that may never happen to me. This is the now!

The entire Repulican party ran on this idea of repeal...it wasn't one man. Democrats not only one the Presidency but they picked up seats in the house and the senate. You can try to claim that it was only Romney, but it just simply isn't true. They tried and they failed.

People already learned that with Bush. This is why Obama won twice.

And again, I'll state that I don't think you understand what repealing would mean.

If you repeal the entire bill, we instantly get pre-existing conditions back. We instantly get thousands of college students and other children dropped off their health insurance. We instantly get annual caps back. You will instantly see State exchanges close and thousands more lose their health insurance (now with pre-exisiting conditions).

It's not just my opinion that it can't be done...it is reality that it can't be done. Republicans know this...the SCOTUS was their last hope...it was the last time that it could have been done away with before most of it went into effect.

The only thing insurance companies would like more than seeing Obamacare going fully into effect is to see it being repealed.

Ah yes, but it was called a tax by the SCOTUS.
That means that all it would take is majority GOP control in the House, Senate, and Presidency and, just as with the so-called "Bush tax cuts", changes can be made swiftly.

Your argument about the pre-existing conditions, people without insurance, etc are all emotional arguments which have no place in dealing with matters of logistics and money. My wallet is not at the beck and call of the general populace's emotional fears.

Good luck getting that majority in the Senate...good luck winning the Presidency against Hillary.

And no, they aren't emotional...they are reality. As for your wallet and taxes...I'm going to go out on a limb here and claim I pay more taxes than you...probably by a lot. So I'll cover your "share" of Obamacare...you just imagine in your mind that your taxes are going towards something you support...whatever you like...the military...the post office..national parks...the highway system...take your pick.

You selfishness of some Americans saddens me.

The cost of my awesome Insurance before Obamacare: $150.00 per month

The cost of my down graded insurance after Obamacare: $320.00 per month

I found it hard to go to the doctors before..... now I can't afford to

Its ok, I know it's going to a good cause... like bailing out multi-national corporations....

Sad actually.

I am sure millions of Americans are going to deal with the same issue.

So what you are getting at is that this is a lose-lose situation for the American public. We either get hit with a huge tax increase or the few people with health insurance lose it. It feels like our politicians are playing a game with us where to results for the public is bad no matter what happens. Good stuff...

I am really surprised that the number is that high (42%?). The problem with our country is that most folks would rather watch American Idol than care about the destruction of our country as we once knew it. Shameful.

Oh boo hoo, you have to pay a little more so millions of others can afford healthcare.
There are certain things I can understand complaining about the cost. Healthcare? Nope.
It sounds like people are greedy and/or desperately trying to find something to complain about since Obamacare has Obama in the name.

There are so many positives to the bill. Not being able to be denied coverage based on pre-existing conditions, being able to stay on parents' coverage til 26, etc.

This is one issue I'm proud to say I agree with Obama on.

I see this debate and its funny how so many have flat out missed
the real problem, my friends wife has cancer, she gets 20 little tiny
pills a month, part of the treatment for her type of cancer, anyone
wanna guess how much it costs? let me say this first, the real
problem we have in this country is that we allow these "businesses"
to rob people blind, we allow them to charge more money than
the care is actually worth BECAUSE OF INSURANCE, insurance
in combination with the pharma companies has created an
overvalued healthcare system where actual value and ability
to pay is ignored and insurance is placed in between, any time
you allow something to inflate that way, as we saw with the housing
market, it never ends well.

Oh and the pills, yeah they cost
10,000$ a month, and no im not joking, if something is artificially
inflated in value then purchasing it fuels the problem, those
houses that were not worth what they sold for were the same basic
idea, the cost of health care has gone beyond what the majority
of Americans can afford, so instead of actually fixing it they
are just giving out low interest loans to help you pay for it over
time you see, because that can never ever go wrong........

Don't tell me that they have it worse in the UK and other countries in Europe.

Sorry if I don't take your word for it......

Hundreds — possibly thousands — of patients have died from lack of care in British hospitals in what an official government investigation termed “the biggest scandal in NHS [National Health Service] history.”

The 31-month, $20-million investigation into the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, led by barrister Robert Francis, found that “between 2005 and 2009, up to 1,200 patients died unnecessarily and many more were ‘failed by a system which ignored the warning signs and put corporate self-interest and cost control ahead of patients and their safety,’” according to the Telegraph. Francis issued a report on the investigation February 6.

“Within hours of the publication of” that report, the Telegraph reported, the government opened an investigation into five more NHS trusts — regional healthcare authorities — that have experienced high mortality rates in recent years. “Between July 2010 and June 2012, a total of 3,063 deaths were recorded at the five trusts, which comprise eight district general hospitals, over and above what would be expected,” the paper wrote. This investigation will be headed by Sir Bruce Keogh, medical director of the NHS Commissioning Board.

Yes, because nothing says "greedy bastard" like a man who wants to retain as much of his own earnings as possible, right?

The entitlement attitude of people, the balls it takes to suggest that someone's hard earned money should be subjected to some sort of socialist redistribution honestly sickens me. That paycheck the government takes an ever increasing amount from every week? They didn't earn that, they didn't build that, the stole that...

This is all part of a plan. I am sure of it. Destroy the Middle class. Make everyone so desperate that they are forced to "rely" on the Government.

Definitely have read about that and definitely agree that it is in action right now, today. This administration, in particular, has quite the track record to prove they have nothing but hatred for the middle class. That said, I'm still beyond dumbfounded that there are so many America citizens advocating it. It is like watching lemmings run off a cliff or moths electrocute themselves on a bug zapper... I mean I can at least understand why those without a pot to piss in support anything that redistributes money into their pockets... obviously the man with nothing will take anything he can get and slip away like a thief in the night. When people with middle class jobs or children/grandchildren start advocating it, I'm baffled. Not only are they slitting their own throat, their ensuring the nation's prosperity will be destroyed for the future generations, their descendents as well.

I see this as a positive sign that you are living in a failed state. When the laws become so numerous that you break about 5 of them everyday you are living under tyranny.

If "they" are so concerned with our health system in America and people's ability to get health care, why is it that healthy, non-GMO foods are being made illegal? Why are the big corporate interests trying to make water a private commodity? Why are nutritional supplements being banned? Why are the big pharma companies pushing pills instead of a healthy lifestyle? Why are corporations allowed to pollute and destroy the environment?

There are many diseases that can be prevented or reversed if people eat healthier foods and get regular exercise, but the government and big business would rather push GMOs, pills and deadly cancer treatments while allowing the world to be raped and become toxic by big business.

Obviously this is not a health issue.
