Press conference going on in Prague right now. The Mayor (Bohuslav Svoboda) has announced that it was a gas explosion -- a very powerful one -- and a
terrorist attack has been ruled out. Number of injured is confirmed at 35.
And some better news -- sniffer dogs has been into the building and did not indicate any people trapped in the rubble, alive or dead. However as there
was still quite a bit of gas in the air the dogs will do another search later when the air is better. Searching is also very difficult right now. (See
next par for details.)
The head of the fire dept has also confirmed that it was a gas explosion. Also, as of about 30 minutes ago, no people have been found inside the
building. However the first floor (the one above the ground floor for American readers) has collapsed and part of the second floor as well, so their
search will take some time as the site is very unstable.
So, a terrible event, but it could have been far worse.
