More energy needs to be funnelled to anti, rather than pro war rhetoric.

Our society is becoming increasingly conservative and big broish thus militaristic.

For example joining the ADF was once an act of career desperados usually those whom left in yr 10 or flunked the HSC, unless ofcause you were going to duntroon it was not something your school career councillor would recommend,when i was in my later years of secondary schooling at NSW public high school in the early 90s.
Now it seems to be all the rage among the ipod,gamer generation an employer of ideal choice where they can practice all the skills they have learnt playing shooter games on their games consoles, other gadgets. this is of cause encouraged by the govs introduction of the GAP year something which never existed in my later years of high school either.
Of cause government and mass media are crowing about such gung ho conformist youth. A far cry from the generation x I was part in the early 90s whom generally speaking seemed to want rebel against any authority and very anti conformity.

I don't believe there is enough insight or sympathy, as to the true emotional and physical trauma the victims of being on the sh!t end of the stick endure.

Thoughts ... not only for ANZACS on this day ( see the ode ) but all those currently scared out of their minds about family in the zone.

It is that time to reflect once again.

On the fallen that gave everything for the good of their nations.
And the angst of the families back home.

The quality of life that we take for granted. Did not come cheaply.

If anyone is not familiar with the ANZAC Legend, feel free to spend many hours with fascinating
arterial distractions as well as some very interesting history. Google search shall provide ! Lol !

Most returned servicemen tend to keep what they have done through duty to country - in house.

This is also their day to catch up.

Unfortunately, today I was reminded of ptsd with a story related to me by the Wife of an Afghanistan returnee.

Poor bloke is doing the dawn service in suit and tie. As a punter.


He is not marching.

Our current serving defense force needs our immediate focus ... Our diggers would agree .

I spent this evening picking flowers to place tomorrow at the memorial for the Dawn Service.
I have ironed my shirt.
2 sweetheart pins sit on the mantle piece ready to place on my coat - from HMAS Sydney I & II, and I have a sprig of Rosemary.


They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

War is not folly, only cowards and women say things like that. War is a fact of our existence, and it's never going to change. You either man up and accept it or keep thinking with the mindset of a frightened child.

Anyone with good sense and foresight will see that war is necessary and unavoidable. Never in your life or mine, never in a thousand years will we see an end to it. Better to just accept that than to vainly hope that we will ever have peace.
