ATS RSS Feed straight to Mountain Lion OSX desktop (iMac)

Hello everyone,

Thought I'd post this thread as a reference to others whom may be on a Macintosh.
I have an iMac, with Mountain Lion installed.

If you have Mountain Lion, you are well aware that Facebook and twitter comes integrated into the Operating System.

One cool thing that I was researching was RSS feeds since i've neglected them over the last few years.

I found a program that ties into the notification window of Mountain Lion.

Here's the result of the ATS RSS Feed of new threads created - Basically within minutes of a thread being posted, I have a notification on my desktop as a speech bubble (you know, like the e-mail arriving notifications). and the resulting list if I expand it.



If i click one of the above links, it brings me straight to ATS.

I am sure there's a windows version available - perhaps for Windows 8 - has an automatic one.

Apologies, probably the most important part.

You need to download the RSS Reader called 'Reader Notifier' from the Mac Store.

Then load it up and enter in the ATS RSS URL:

feeds.abovetopsecret.com...

It should then look like the image below.



Configure it as desired - thats it, all ready to go

Google Reader Gets Axed In Annual Spring Cleaning

The latest causality is Google Reader. The popular RSS feed aggregator launched in 2005 and became quite an instant hit. Despite the loyalty though, on its blog post, Google suggests that its usage has steadily declined over the years, and the service will be put to rest on 1st July. For those who want to save all that precious data accrued using RSS feeds can move to Google Takeout in order to get backups of all their data and subscriptions.
