See that's part of the speech I didn't agree with, that and the PC police are everywhere. Lawyers don't need to leave politics. Do not misinterprete the tithe system. 10% is the minimum and meant for social welfare for the community. God do not need money, but would want those money, a mortal system of exchange for goods and services, to be recirculated amongst members in the community so that all may have a share leaving none behind, with those whom are poor pitied and forgivien for not being able to contribute while the rich chastised if they refused to give more while hoarding up the rest for themselves and their own.

As we progressed and evolved, with higher population growth and increased needs for social expenditure to meet and help everyone, taxes extended from tithe and rosed to ensure wealth is circulated, although in the old days, it ended in the king's treasury instead of being used for social welfare.

But today, our secular soceity is much different from monarchial rule whereby every penny used is transparent, for social expenditure as well as for funding infrastructure costs and the economy so that the returns will be many times what had been spent in terms of social and economic activities to help future generations progress even further.

Dr Carson may be an intelligent man, but by his speech, it seems that he best remain in his speciality or his credibility will be lost if he spoke beyond his limited range. Technocrats are good people, but they are either specialists in the field and knows nothing more of governance of a complex nation, or simply beholden to those whom had funded their research and careers.

Better the govt whom dares to admit to mistakes, to correct them and progress, then to one who thinks they are right, refuses to listen and change.

At least in America, voters get to boot out the incompetent for change, but in Iran, Russia and China, it is the masses that get booted into prison camps for re-education through manual hard labour to be changed.

Your deffinition of fair and mine must be different. Fair means everyone is treated the same without regard to their individual circumstance and that the law applies equally to all. A sliding scale of taxation is the opposite of fair IMO.

Also, the "world" is not the responsibility of the US Federal Government. Further, charity is not one of the powers delegated to the Federal Government they have absolutely zero authority under the Constriction to tax one citizen more severely than another to balance the playing field or ensure that they have a certain quality of life or to "share the wealth" provide a safety net or any of these other memes.

Again, I see no place in the Constitution that authorizes the Federal Government to tax the people to "ensure wealth is circulated".

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; - Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 of the United States Constitution,

I am no Constitutional scholar but to me "but all duties, excises and imposts shall be uniform" implies that everyone should be taxed equally.

I know that is not the way it has been interpreted by the SCOTUS or the government but I also think neither of those bodies is unbiased in their assessments and rulings as they have a lot to gain from ruling in favor of having more revenue.

Both of those bodies are staffed by and are branches of the Federal Government of course they are all for more authority for the same.

Just watched this video. Every last bit of what he said was dead-on, and I'm not ashamed to admit that his closing remarks choked me up a bit and nearly brought a tear to my eye.

We need more Americans like him.

I have never heard of Carson but was amazed by this speech. In everyday life, we are constantly competing, complaining or pointing fingers elsewhere. If only a few of us would take what this man had to say to heart and utilize it in our everyday lives, I can only imagine the huge differences it would make not only in us and/or those closest to us, but to those we dont even know and/or the world as a whole.

One thing people appear to be losing is the idea that our actions affect those around us and their actions affect those around them. It is like a domino effect.

Remove the Win/Lose attitudes and start solving the problems. Its a simple starting point.

Honestly, one of the best speeches ever. The story about his mom making them write book reports was priceless.

Really wished the media would not have hyped it as an Obama smack down as that turned off his supporters who probably won't give it a listen.

I was just about to post a clip of this speech. The man is a smart one, I don't know how I never heard of him before. If he was running for office, he would get a serious consideration for my vote, don't care what party he was running for either.
