When you discover something, you get to name it.

If a scientist discovers a comet and names it Comet Spiderman, then that's what it's gonna be called. Unless we're going to have them select a name from a predetermined list that we all deem to be "fair and impartial."

I'm aware of this. Still, I personally feel they should leave their political leanings out of it. It has nothing to do with the animals or their nature at all.

Who knows, maybe professionalism is simply non-existent in this day and age.

There professionalism was displayed when they discovered the species. They are ecologists. That is their profession.
