Changes in temperature, the size and shape of the vessel, and other habitat factors produce variances in mushrooms’ texture, color and consistency. Ross began showing his creations at galleries around the city and soon had developed a reputation in the art scene as a kind of craft mycologist. Ross told me that for one exhibition, he re-created, to scale, the fuselage, wings, and cockpit of a 747 using wood-fed oyster mushroom bricks, although unfortunately the pictures have been lost. "The question isn't, 'What can fungus do?'" Ross said. "It's, 'What do you want it to do?' Fungi are transformative agents in the truest sense of the word."

Growing building materials from mushrooms would be a good thing. I just wonder how permanent it is. Maybe one day we could have mushroom houses. Something tells me that this will go nowhere under the current system. I just thought is was cool and i should share the info.

I'd like to scope it, but the link is broken. Could you maybe toss it up again?
Did you use the link button at the top?

Very cool. If only we used resources like this more often instead of plastics and such. Mushrooms are pretty cool, versatile specimens.

IMO If man were to pick an organism to genetically modify it would be fungus.
In my mind the possibilities are endless.
