Whoa...no way I could do a top 5,

But these are the ones that come to my mind off the top of my head:

Lord of the flies/Golding
The sound and the fury/Faulkner
Wuthering heights/Emily Bronte
LOTR/Tolkien
The Bluest Eye/Morrison

Frankenstein and Heart of Darkness are also big ones, and The Little Prince...has me sobbing every time I read it!

It would be easier for me to pick top 5 of genres!

5. Needful Thing by Stephen King

I've mentioned Needful Things to so many people when discussing Facebook's tendency to slip massive security changes so that information that was previously hidden is suddenly revealed. I picture Zuckerberg riding off on a bike while former "friends" go to war over a post.

1. Outlander. Diana Gabaldon

2. In Cold Blood. Truman Capote

3. Les Miserables. Victor Hugo

4. The Stand. Stephen King

5. The Autobiography of King Henry VIII. Margaret George

1. Outlander, and Diana Gabaldons entire series are phenomenal. My absolute favorite, disappear into a book series ever. And I am eagerly awaiting the final book (or two).

2. Charlaine Harris' sookie Stackhouse series always makes me laugh.

3. Anne Rice's early vampire books were great, the books went downhill after Queen of the Damned

4. I like several other authors, but not consistantly, so I will reserve judgement on my other two favorites
