The Catalina Channel has been a ufo/uso hotspot for decades. Actually the first sightings there were July 7th, 1947 and July 9th, 1947. Yes just a couple days after Roswell. It seems that most of the activity was in the late 50's and 60's but there have been sporadic sightings throughout the years. I first read about it in Dennet's "UFO's over California" & in his "UFO's in Topanga Canyon"...
So it isn't just a whimsical spot, plenty of researched sightings right there...

I see Catalina Island everyday I surf, I'm looking....

White Rock Island is near Near Crescent City close to the northern border of CA., not near LA.
No bright city lights or international airports in the vicinity at all, just small towns.Near Crescent City


Now I have to apologize, as there are two White Rock Islands on the west coast.
The southern one is listed as just White Rock. Down by Long Beach. still not near LosA.

So now, which one is it ??

Long Beach is 15~20 minutes from LA...White Rock Island off Catalina is 26 miles from Long Beach...
