Is Watermelon Smasher/Comedian Gallagher Dead?

I could have sworn this guy had dies because I remember being sad that part of my childhood had died with him because I grew up watching him splatter watermelon all over his audience, but I just saw him in a Geico commercial!

Now all I can find on it is that he had a heart attack but RECOVERED, I could have sworn he died from that heart attack!

He was recently on the David Letterman show. He does have a twin, maybe that guy died.
